'The Pittsburgh and Connelliville
Railroad Codinansi, organized in the
interests of the Baltimore' and Ohio
Road, and Indeed by that company,
Is now building a road from Pitts
burgh, by j way. of Connelbwille c to,
Cumberland, lad., on the Baltimore
and Ohio Railroad. • This mad will
be open for busitiees in the fall of 1870,
and will be on an almost direct line
from Pittsburgh to Baltimoie. More
over, afteeyears of steady, legal strug
gim with the Pennsylvania Central,
which has heretofore been stippmed
to rule the State of Pennsylvania, it
has gained In the highest courts, and
in the Legislature of Pennsylvania,
full privileges in regard to making
connections, extending branches, apd
everything else, equal to thoseenjoy
ed by the great Pennsylvania road.
This Connellsville Company will
not be content to stop at Pittsburgh,
but must of necessity seek northern
and western outlets. As Pittsburgh
has no routes in the requisite diree
lions, except such as are under the'
control or the Pennsylvania Central,
the citizens of the "3moky City" are
directly interested in aiding the Con
nel lsville Com pony to build t he north
ern and western toads which 'both
p.arties need. In repel to this neees
sity, Mr. John W. Garrett, 'President
of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad,
at a regular Meeting of the stockhold
ers of that Company, said: • -
"We are constantly asked if our
plans ander:liege:net:is are perfected

This company has been organized,

This is 'enough to show that the

such towns as they think will be best,
for their purposes, according to the
reasons gven above. It is an open

let merit give the vietory.
So fur as Canton is concerned, that
city will as well and cheaply get the

Going by way of Akron, not, only

'That I cannot tell; but Miss M—,
