Horrible if Trne.—The Stark Connty(o.)Deino
'crat says it is nn undiaputed'andl established fact that
n'young lady aged sixteen yetirsfnamed Anna Brown
residing at Mr. Tipton's on lit'fintit street, Canton,
has a snake, worm 4 or some such thing in beretomach.
Its head has been seen in her month.nnuMber Ortiines,
by many people, and on Sunday, the filth nit, by twen
ty or thirty, when for a brief time it was out as far as
the lips. Dr. Nieschang, the attending physician, was
about to grasp It, when a movement of the girl, who
was in a spastri, prevented, and the opportunity was
lost. The Doctor thinks it is of the tape species, and
very long, probably twenty yards. The girl, for some
seven years. has been afflicted with spasms of a severe
character. By laying the hands on her stomach at
tidies, its terrible motions and contortions can be eas
ily felt. The head of the snake. or worm Is qnite black.
The usual time for it to make its appearance Is about
Ft!..' o'clock in the evi'ctng. People arc constantly
coming anti going. amounting to several hundred a
day. 'Mr. Tipton is compelled to fasten the door and
reituest people to go away, Doctor Ifieschang has
confidence that he will succeed in p:lieving the Sir, of
her disagreeable cnstomer. , This singular case has
created great excitement among the citizens of Can
ton during the past week.

There is a certain portion of the War that
w ill never go into the 'regular . histories,,nor

a very real part of it, and will, If preserved,
convey to succeeding generations a better
idea of the spirit of the conflict ,than Many

and this part may be called the ':gossip, the.
fun, the prithes of the War: This illustrates
the character attic leaders, the burnoref the
I soldiers, the devotion ofavomen, the bravery
of men, the'pluck of our heroes, the romance
and hardships of the, servile. • From the
begining of the war, the author has been
engaged in collecting all the, anecdote's con

gmriped and classified them under appropri

The volume is profusely illustrated with.
over 100 fine engravings, by the first artists
and its contents include reminiscences' of
camp, picket, spy, Banat, blvotum, siege, and
battle-field, with thrilling feats of bravery.
