Death of Dr. Charles H. Stowe. "
'Mr: Editor: It is with melancholy pleasure
that I chronicle a few; facts connected with the j
life.and death of one of the .many: victims
which this unfortunate war has made: True,-
he did not yield up his life on this field of ball
tie. as thousands of others have done,-, hut
while engaged in kindly officcsfo the sick and
wounded soldiers, in one of the hospitals- st'i
Washington, he contracted thb disease, which I
terminated what promised to .be a brilliant 1
career, when,,as yet,- his feet was upon its

Dr. Charles H. Stowe was.bonl in.* Beaver
