Centre County Polled Record Vote
Tuesday.
to applicants.
on
The important and hotly contested
judicial battle, a perfect day and every
candidate with an aggressive personal
organization served to bring out the
largest vote ever polled
county, last Tuesday.
in Centre
Out of a total registration of 21,198
in the county 14,847 voters were
the polls.
at
Besides being the largest
total vote ever cast we believe it was
also the highest percentage of the
to-
tal registration that has ever been
shown in the local election.
_Because of the many cross-currents
that were running all through the ju-
dicial contest it is utterly impossible
to make any analysis of the vote from
the returns.
It is known that many
Democrats supported Mr. Keller and
Mr. Dale, also that many Republicans
supported Mr. Walker, but there is
no
way to figure just what percentage of
the voters of the two parties left their
own column to go over and vote for
the candidate on the other side.
It was an interesting contest from
start to finish. It is the general belief
that all of the candidates waged a
clean, fair fight though some of their
over-enthusiastic = supporters
are
charged with having started the usual
flood of campaign stories that are in-
evitable in such a heated contest.
The Republican organization was
compelled to extend itself to the limit
to elect Mr. Keller because never be-
fore has it been challenged by two
more aggressive or resourceful lead-
ers than are Messrs.
Dale.
We congratulate Mr. Keller.
Walker and
He
will be an honor to the bench general-
ly, an honest, just and conscientious
Judge.
We congratulate his
opponents.
Both of them made impressive fights
and accepted defeat so gracefully
to command admiration.
as
The vote on judge in the county was
as follows:
Keller - - - 6045
Walker - - - 4708
Dale - - - - 3094
The detail of the vote for State and
county offices will be found in the ta-
ble on this page. Following is the vote
for borough and township offices in
the county.
