John Patterson is manipulating the
wheel on a new Hudson coupe.
Bert Lytle, head sawyer at a saw
mill in Blair county, was home over
Sunday.
Mrs. C. B. McCormick is quite ill
at the John Bowersox home at State
College.
The whir of the steam thresher is
now in evidence hulling out the gold-
en grain.
Miss Ruth Miller was an over Sun-
day guest of her friend, Miss E. Y,
Dale, on the Branch.
Rev. and Mrs. J. Max Kirkpatrick
are spending their vacation among
friends in the Buckeye State.
Mrs. Ella Holter, of Huntingdon, is
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
James McCool, at Baileyville.
The Houser clan held a family re-
union at Hairy John’s park, in the
Woodward Narrows, last Thursday.
Wilson Henry is having his barn
re-roofed with corrugated iron roof-
ing. Irvin and Fisher have the con-
tract.
Jesse Houck and mother motored
up from Franklinville to see how Mrs.
Reed is getting along, and found her

The Stork, last Thursday, paid its
first visit to the Capt. Charles E. Sohl
home and left a little soldier, who has
been christened Charles Jr.
Our veteran mail carrier, W. E. Mec-
Williams, suffered a nasty fall a few
days ago, sustaining some painful in-
juries on his head and face.

harvest field and at the table.
Mrs. John E. Reed is ill at her home
at Rock Springs, having been confin-
ed to bed the past week. Her condi-
tion at this writing is slightly improv-

W. S. Moore, the well known cattle
dealer, circulated among the farmers
in this section last week on the hunt
of fresh cows, but found them very
scarce.

The public meeting of Washington
Grange called for this week has been
postponed until Tuesday, August 12th,
when it will be held in the Grange hall
at Pine Hall. Everybody is invited.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Dale and
Miss Dorothy Lawson, of Bellefonte,
and Mr. and Mrs. Forest McGirk and
wife, of Altoona, were Sunday callers
at the C. M. Dale home on the Branch.
Rev. W. J. Wagner and family took
bag and baggage and left on Tuesday
morning for the Modoc hunting lodge
where they will spend three weeks
amid the natural scenery of Old Tus-
sey mountain.
While visiting at the home of her
son Claude, at Linden Hall, Mrs. J. B.
Rockey made a misstep and fell down
a flight of stairs, fracturing her left
arm. A physician reduced the frac-
ture and she is getting along as well
as can be expected. :

Daniel Rossman and family, of
Mifflinburg, visited at the J. D. Moore
home on Sunday.
Earl Lambert and family reached
our town last Thursday night in their
“house on wheels.”
Mrs. Rebecca Murray is among
friends and relatives in Centre Hall
and other points in the east.
Thomas Hosterman drove to Cen-
tral Oak Heights on Sunday and
brought Mrs. Hosterman home.
Miss Verna Rowe went to Atlantic
City on Thursday morning where she
will visit her brother John for a
week.
Mrs. William Garis and son “Bil-
ly” went to Greensburg with Mrs.
Garis’ sister and husband, for a two
week’s visit.
Mrs. F. A. Foreman, of State Col-
lege, spent last Thursday in Centre
Hall as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ly-
curgus Lingle.
Mr. and Mrs. John Wega, of Nant-
y-glo, are visiting in this locality.
Mrs. Wega will be remembered as
Miss Mary Krumbine.
Rev. and Mrs. M. S. Derstine and
daughter, Miss Marguerite, of Wil-
liamsport, are visiting Mr. Derstine’s
sister, Mrs. J. H. Puff,
Mr. and Mrs. Person and Mr. and
Mrs. Ammon Burkholder, of New Jer-
sey, are visiting the ladies’ mother,
Mrs. James B. Strohm.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Foss, of Altoo-
na, drove to Centre Hall on Sunday,
bringing the latter’s sister, Miss Algie
Emery, along with them.
Mrs. Frank Harlacher and two
daughters, a son-in-law and grand-
daughter, visited in Centre Hall on
Wednesday. They lived here about
thirty years ago.
On Saturday afternoon Rev. Fred-
eric Barry and family, of Baltimore,
reached Centre Hall for a two week’s
visit with Mrs. Barry’s mother, Mrs.
William Mitterling.
——John J. Consoll, of Warren
county, escaped from the western pen-
itentiary at Rockview on Wednesday
morning of last week by climbing over
the stockade.

The first two of the above named tracts
of land having been sold and conveyed
unto the Gowland Manufacturing Company
by John Gowland et al by deed dated May
6th, 1903, and recorded at Bellefonte, Pa.,
in Deed Book Vol. 90, at page 286 as by
reference thereto being had will more ful-
ly and at large appear.
The said Gowland Manufacturing Com-
pany, a corporation, by proceedings duly
and regularly had and of record in the
office of the Secretary of the Common-
wealth at Harrisburg, Pa., and in the office
of the Recorder of Deeds in and for the
County of Centre, at Bellefonte, Pa., did
cause its Corporate name, style and title
to be changed from that of the Gowland
Manufacturing Company to the Gill Man-
ufacturing Company, the grantor herein,
wherein and whereby the title of property
theretofore standing in the name of The
Gowland Manufacturing Company did be-
come by operation of the law duly vested
as The Gill Manufacturing Company,
grantor herein. Being the same premises
sold and conveyed unto Philipsbure
Foundry & Machine Company by Gill
Manufacturing Company by deed dated
December 31st, 1917, and recorded at Belle-
fante, Pa., in Deed Book Vol. 119, at page

and to be sold as the property of Philips-
burg Foundry & Machine Company. 1
