ym Episcopal Church Picnic. The annual picnic of St. John’s Episcopal parish and Sunday school will be held at Hecla park, Thursday, July 21st. The start will be made from the parish house, west Lamb street, that morning at 9 o'clock. Provision will also be made for those who cannot go down before moon, if they will give their names to the rec- tor or to the chairman of the trans- portation committee, W. Fred Rey- nolds Jr. The picnic will be held in union with St. Paul’s church, Lock Haven, and there will be representatives from the Episcopal churches of State Col- lege, Tyrone, Philipsburg, Jersey Shore and Renovo. A program has been prepared which aims to give a good time to all. The two parishes will be pitted against each other in a series of athletic events for boys and girls and the young people generally, a silver loving-cup to be awarded to the parish winning the most points and 2 medal to the highest individual scorer. The morning events will in- clude races, tug o’ war, quoit pitching tournament, etc. Dinner will be serv- ed from 12 to 1:30. The afternoon will be featured by two baseball games, St. John’s Boys’ club vs. Lock Haven boys, and the young men of Bellefonte parish vs. the young men of Lock Haven. An orchestra will furnish music for dancing during the afternoon. At 4 o’clock there will be swimming races and other water sports, the day closing with ice cream and cake served to every one ath o’clock. John B. Payne is the general chair- man for St. John’s. Mrs. W. Fred Reynolds, chairman of the dinner ar- rangements, will solicit food from every family in the parish for the gen- erous picnic repast, while Wilbur Ba- ney has the responsible task of secur- ing from the men the necessary funds to give the members of the congrega- tion, big and little, the finest sort of a day. The trustees are John Lee, Dewey Hillard, George Eb- erhart, Mrs. Anna Billett and Mrs. Lloyd Stover. Rev. C. C. Yarnell, who bought the park from the old Central Railroad of Pennsyl- vania two years ago. A number of rumors have been afloat as to what Mr. Smith intends to do with the property, but as that gentleman is at present in Michigan and there is no one in Bellefonte who can speak with authority for him, it cannot be stated at this time what his intentions are. But it is the universal hope of the pub- lic at large that the park will not be despoiled for use as a public picnic grounds, as it is the ‘only place Within easy reach of Bellefonte where such gatherings can be held. Maynard, Rector. — The long-continued hot weather has been hard on the ice supply in Bellefonte and the result is it is get- ting low, but even this fact is hardly excuse for the two or three increases in price that have been made, as that will not add to the supply. It is said that George H. Yarnell, at Hecla, has less than a month’s supply on hand and Harry Clevenstine, who has been getting his ice there, has let a con- tract for a refrigerating plant. It is times like these that make Bellefonte people wish for an ice plant of suf- ficient capacity to supply enough ice for everybody, and at a fair cost. eee. Political Announcements. TAX COLLECTOR.
