can staples—Wheat, Cotton and Copper—are selling
for less than the cost of production.
This means hard times for the farmer.
Europe wants these staples, but has no money
and no credit. We must help them by extending
credit. Meanwhile the millions of hungry people
there must be fed. Giving has ceased to be a mere
matter of charity. It has become an economic ne-
cessity. If we are to have sustained prosperity
here, we must help by giving through the various
relief associations.
