Archey, at Pennsylvania Furnace. Grandmother Eliza McCracken is lying seriously ill at her home in the Glades as the result of a stroke of paralysis. She is in her 90th year. George Glenn, assistant postmaster at State College, is fixing up the orch- ard on his farm in the Glades and will plant one hundred new fruit trees of various kinds. ’Squire J. W. Miller went down to Philadelphia on Wednesday to enter the University hospital and undergo an operation for an injury in his side that he sustained during the Civil war. Owing to the death of his wife, W. H. Irwin will quit the farm at Penn- sylvania Furnace on which he has lived seventy-two years and make his home with his daughter, Mrs. William Brown, at Mount Union. Mrs. J. W. Kepler and daughter Mary and Miss Grace Dale departed Thursday for a two week’s sojourn at Atlantic City. Homeward bound they will visit relatives in Philadelphia, Lancaster and Harrisburg. A flag raising will take place at Baileyville at six o'clock this (Fri- day) ~ evening in connection with a Liberty loan meeting. W. Harrison Walker Esq., and Dr. W. K. McKin- ney, of Bellefonte, will be the speak- ers. Everybody is invited. The home talent play here on Sat- urday evening made a big hit. The IL 0. O. F. hall was packed to the doors and the amount realized was $64.00. So well was the play received that it will be repeated in Boal hall at Boals- burg tomorrow (Saturday) evening. Ferguson township is over the top. At a Liberty loan meeting held at Pine Hall last Thursday evening over five thousand dollars were subscribed.
