Notes of Interest to Church People of all Denominations in all Parts of the County. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SOCIETY. Service Sunday 11:00 a. m. Wednes- day 8 p. m., 9 E. High street. An illustrated lecture on “The Immi- grant Problem” will be delivered in St. John’s Reformed church, Friday evening of this week, at 7.30, by the Rev. Dr. D. A. Souders, Superintendent of the De- partment of Immigration of the Reform- ed church Home Mission Board. The lecture will be free to all. An offering will be lifted. Next Sunday morning, at 10.30 the Rev. Dr. Schmidt will discuss the subject “War—Which Has Failed, Civilization or Christianity?” UNDINE FIRE COMPANY HAD BiG BAN- QUET.—The Undine fire company’s St. Patrick’s day banquet, held in the com- pany building on Bishop street last Thurs- day evening, was a pronounced success in every way. Over one hundred and fifty people were present, which includ- ed a good-sized delegation of Logans as well as other guests. The menu includ- ed hot chicken, inashed potatoes, salads, etc. Bailey’s orchestra was present throughout the evening and discoursed patriotic and popular music. . Postmaster Patrick F. Gherrity, presi- dent of the company, acted as toastmas- ter of the evening and toasts were re- sponded to by burgess Edmund Blanch- ard, Dr. M. J. Locke, Col. H. S. Taylor, John J. Bower, W. Francis Speer and others. Each one paid a glowing tribute to Bellefonte’s volunteer firemen and commended them upon their promptness and willingness at all times to respond to an alarm of fire. After the general meeting adjourned and the guests were intermingling social- ly in the big hall W. J. Emerick, proprie- tor of the Emerick motor bus line, stated that it was a shame that the Bellefonte firemen were not better equipped for reaching fires quickly and publicly an- nounced that he would give two hundred dollars to each company toward purchas- ing motor aparatus if other public spirit- ed citizens of Bellefonte would also con- tribute so that the cost would not fall on the companies. Mr. Emerick’s offer is a very generous one and sheuld be prompt- ly met by other Bellefonte residents who are in a position to do so. New Advertisements.
