The question of - lighting our streets at night
has evidently died out.
J. B. Gentzel is putting a coat of paint on the
large barn he recently erected in the rear of his
residence. -
Quite a large number of our folks will ‘occupy
tents during picnic week, and only hope for clear,
cool weather.
Mr. and Mrs: W. O. Gramley left on Tuesday
last for New York State.” Mrs. Gramley will
stop off at Elrnira to visit relatives and friends,
while Mr. Gramley will proceed further to pur-
chase a stock of cows.
Penns and Sinking creeks are very low. In
Penns creek there is not sufficient water to en-
tirely cover the bottom, while Sinking creek is
simply a long, crooked lane embellished with
weeds and mud puddles. If we don’t have a good
|| rain very soon there will evidently be a ‘water
famine in many of our wells.
School commenced here on Monday last with a
very good attendance. The teachers appointed
by the school board are Spring Mills High
school, W. R. Jones; 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, W.
Harvey, A. L. Duck and S. Musser pectively; |

regret of many of our citizens, regardless of
politics. He has been a very capable and efficient
postmaster, and by his agreeable and pleasant
manners to those visiting the office has won
golden opinions from all sorts of people. Mr.
Krape will now give his entire attention to his !
extensive shoe business. |
