Health officer Port is quite busy tacking yellow
cards as a quarantine for measels and a few cases
of diphtheria.
John E. Reish, a student at the Susquehanna
University, is spending his Easter vacation at
his home here.
W. Harrison Walker spent Thursday in this
end of the county sizing up his chances for the
county chairmanship.
Liveryman Evey is short a horse that sickened
on the road from Warriorsmark to Pine Grove,
Tuesday afternoon, when a spark from the smoke
stack ignited the dead grass in an adjoining field,
and the strong wind drove the fire over the entire
field before it could be extinguished.
The commencement exercises of Walker town-
ship High school began on Sundav evening, April
7th, at which time Rev. Faust, of Howard, preach,
ed an able and interesting discourse to the gradu-
ating class.
The exercises proper were held Wednesday
evening, April 10th. The members of theclass
acquitted themselves well, whichis sufficient to
prove that success comes only to those
who put forth diligent and persistent ef-
forts. The speaker of the evening was Dr. S.
E. Weber, dean of the school of Liberal Arts,
State College, who gave an eloquent and spirited
talk on “The Value of High School Education.”

Harry Irvin for the first time in twenty-five

Saturday morning while some men were fishing
along Spring creek two dogs brought a fine deer
from Nittany mountain, and the men drove the
dogs off and the deer waded along the creek for
more than an hour, then returned to the moun-

The schools of College township have about
all closed, and it was a very successful term, as
was shown by the examinations held during the
term by the teachers, which is part of the course
of study adopted by the school board a few years
ago, and is being worked out to the satisfaction
of parents and all others interested.
