The Flying Mogul and the Twins.
The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy rail-
road has a pair of big twin engines, 1591
and 1592. They are only a little over a
year old and weigh 127 tons a piece. They
have great wheels 84] inches in diameter,
and compound cylinders extra large. Asa
matter of fact, they are the biggest pas-
senger engines ever built, and as to fast
running, they have heen the ‘whole thing.”’
Now what do you suppose happened ?
A mogul, class H-2, No. 1091, fairly well
born, to be sure, but comparatively a light-
weight, with but very little brass work
about her, used principally in the freight
service and considered an excellent steady
old girl, was the other day in a case of
emergency hooked on to the fast mail No.
8 at Burlington, and came sailing into
Chicago, 205 8-10 miles, in exactly 205
minutes—after stopping on the way seven
times to take a drink. At Mendota she
stopped six minutes, and the story goes
that something a little stronger than water
was given her there, because on leaving
the town she felt so gay that Aurora,454-10
miles away, was reached in just 40 min-
utes. A rate of 68 1-10 milesan hour for a
mogul! Engineer Gillette and conductor
Cullenbine say it was all done on the
square, and that she had nothing to drink
at Mendota but pure water.
Well, at any rate, the twins are furious,
and they are puffing and blowing about
what they will do the next time they are
turned loose. They never liked the mogul,
and say she is a fast old thing. Probably
iter this they won’t whistle as she passes

Mrs. Lottridge Admits Killing Wright.
The inquest on the body of Rufus Wright
has been postponed until April 24th. Mrs.
Lottridge, according to Lieutenant Perry,
of detective headquarters in Chicago, has
confessed that she killed the rich inventor.
He quotes her as having said :
*‘T would not have killed him if it hadn’t
been for Ed. Howard.”
“If Howard wasn’t in the room at the
time of the shooting,’”’ said Lieut. Perry,
‘‘he was in the vicinity. We want to find
out what he knows about this ‘accident.’ ’
Howard was Mr. Wright’s closest friend.
He wasseen with him shortly before Wright
entered the hotel, and before Wright died
the tire manufacturer whispered to the doc-
tor : ‘Send for Eddie Howard.”’
Mis. Lottridge had an attack of delirium
tremens at the hearing and was given
whisky. ;
“Don’t take me in there,”’ she shrieked
as they helped her from the carriage. ‘‘I
don’t want to go in there where he is. Let
me go back.”’
She braced herself against the door sill
and dug her fingers into the detective’s
arm. Her face was livid and her features
twitched in a muscular frenzy. The
strength of several men was required to car-
ry her into the room where the inquest was
to be held. The casket containing Wright’s
body was hidden from her by a screen.
“CARRY SUNSHINE WITH You.”’—A
bright, fresh, sunny face is always inspir-
ing, and it always denotes good health as
well as a happy heart. Many faces that
were once overcast with gloom have been
made bright and sunny by Hood’s Sarsa-
parilla which cures all dyspeptic symptoms,
strengthens the nerves and tones up and
invigorates the whole system.
Constipation is cured by Hood’s Pills,
the non-irritating cathartic. Sold by all
druggists.

New Forestry Tract.
Among the late properties acquired by
the State in the interest of forestry isa
large tract north of Penfield. It includes
the Hoover, Hughes & Co. lands, consist-
ing of 8,000 acres, and also 1,300 acres ad-
joining the property of Troxell and Smith.
The Hoover, Hughes & Co. property ex-
tends from Mountain run east almost to
Mill run, and from near Penfield on the
south side up to near the top of Boon’s
mountain. It has been made barren by
the removal of the timber, but is well
watered by numerous mountain streams
and can again be made a most delightful
wooded section. The smaller lot is of the
same character.
