Lock Haven is spoken of very highly
by those of our citizens who went down
to hear it. The subject was Daniel
O'Connell—one that would, no doubt,
give - Wendell an opportunity to air his

ler, Kegs., of Sugar and Brush valleys,
left this place on Wednesday afternoon
last for the great West. Their destina
tion was Kanoville, Kano county, Illi
nois, which they expect to make their

preparing for this occasion for some

musician, there is every reason to be

OBITUARY. ---The funeral of Mrs.
Mary Laurimore, at Pleasant Clap, on
Sunday lastovas ono of the largl.st we
ever •attended. The people gathered'
front all parts of the surrounding coun
try, and many of the citizens of • this
place went out to attend the obsequies.'
Some sixty vehicles were in line. Al
the house the funeral sermon was
pYeaehed by Mr. Rev. Haelteuberg,
who also officiated at the grave. The
deceased was interred in the new
Altman cerneicry at Pleasant (lap.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Laun
rimore was in the 72,1 ySar of her age.
She was horn near Boaisburg, in this
county, and, throughout her whole
life, was a consistent ani4 humble
christian. At an early period she be
came a member of the Presbyterian
Church, remaining a communicant of
that faith until Death came for her to
join the glorified church of her 'Father
f in Heaven. For her the grde had
no terrors, the grim monster no sting.
Ile came, rather, in the giii3e of
friend, and bore her away fronn her
troubles and finds to a participation 11l

noted for active business energy and
ability than Daniel Rhoads, esq., the
able and gentlemanly superintendent or
the Snowshoe railroad. Mr. Rhonda is
one of our own citizens, and we record

up for himself a railroad reputation that
is known and quoted among fret•class
railroaders along the lines of some of our
