to our advertising columns, it will be seen
that the Larry’s Creek Wool Factory, sit-

establishment is an extensive one, and we
well recollect that when it was under

some of the finest cloths, blankets &e, in
the country. The present proprietor, Mr,

O27 Our attention was called the other
day to the case of a boy named Gorman liv-
ing on Iowa:d stréet, who has been for
three long months suffering from the effects
of ague, it having settled in his left limb
rendering him a complete cripple for the
present. llow long he may be so, we do
not know, but from his appearance we judge
his recovery will be somewhat protracted.
He is now unable to do anything, and pre-
aents a poverty stricken aspect. We com-

1310LEN.— Two shirts and a fine linen ta-
ble cloth were stolen from the clothes line
of Mr. Wm, Furey, on Monday vight last.—
‘Lhe thieves were conscientious, for although
the line was full of clothes, these threo ar-
®icles were the only ones taken. These
Liitle pilferings are again becoming quite
frequent, and should waken up our police.
An example made of ene or two of these
small fry thieves, would be effectual in put-
ting a stop to such depredations.

Jon P. Mireugir, Eeq.—True merit
needs no commendation ; and, although we
feel tms to be true in the case of the young
gentlemen. whose tape heads this item, yet
we cannot refrain from calling the attention
ol our readers to the beautiful poem from
his pen, entitled “Old Letters,” which ap-
pear in this number of the Waroayan. With-
cat doubt, Mr. Mitchell is a genume poet
Yr surpassing ability, and the beauty of his
productions is only equaled by the modesty
with which he entrusts them to us for pub
hieation. We feel obliged to him for the
kindness which makes us themediam of the
publication of his beautiful effusions, when
we know they would command a ready
entrance nto the columns of any influen-
tial literary journal of the counfry, We
observe a couple of his poems in the Wav-

but we hope while he favors them occas-

And men can’t find a dollar
To spend on pants or coat or vest,

Republicans blame Democrats,
For all this mighty bother,
And Democrats Republicans—
So each one blames the other,
Some swear that Linooln’s juet th ,
To cure thir mighty evil,
While otters uy n®’s trying hard
To send ws to the Devil,
And so it goes—and polities,
Makes fast friends fight each other,
And kindles bitter feelings, which
They try in vain to smother,
Now, thisis all a silly thing,

For all men should be brothers, and
Should live in peace and kindness.
If you're a “pub” and I'm a “Dem,”
That need not cause a trouble,
Normake us call each other names,
Nor beat each other double,
For where's the use in you and I,
To go to pullin’ triggers,
Just for a nasty.greasy lot.
Of woolly-pated niggers.
Just noue at all—and so say I,
We've made a mighty blunder,

THE FOUR ACTS OF DESPOTISH.
BY A. D. MAHONEY, OF IOWA,
Author of the Prisoner of State.”’
This work contains full and offictal copies of
he Four Great Acts of Despotism by which the
copstituti- nal government of Washington was sub-
verted, and the irresponsible Lincoln dynasty in-
talled in its place,
1. Tue Tax Biuy, by which all the property
and resources of the people are mortgaged to the
resent administration.
2. THe CovscripmioN BirL. by which all the
bodies of poor wen not worth $300 are placed in
the hands of the Administration,
3. Tue Finance Bivu, which destroys State
Banks and places the entire currency of the coun-
ry in the hands of the Secretary of the Treasury.
4. Tae INpeMN1TY ACT. (fitting climax.) which
presumes to indemnify the President for all the
wrongs he has committed in the past or may com-
wit in the future.
These four acts are each preceded by a care
ul analysis, by Mr, Mahoney, and their unjust,
oppressive, unconstitutional and odious features
As a book for reference, it will be
invaluable to the farmer, the mechanic, the poli
tieian, the laborer—in fact, to every person, for
these monstrous acts reach from the loftiest man-
sion to the humblest cabin in the land.
These four acts are not published together in
any other form. They will make a large octavo
