We the undersigned Commissoners of Centre
county do hereby certify that the foregoing is a

the commendation of Secretary Cameron and
the permit of Gen. McClellan, commenced
last week what they expected would be a
series of concerts through the camps across
tie Potomac.
Visiting the camps of the New Jersey
Volunteers, they indicated their abolition
principles by singing Whitter’s song, com-
mencing ‘ We wait beneath the furnace
blast,” which being decidedly untimely, was
received by an expression of scorn by Sur
geon Oakly and others of the Fourth Regi
ment. .
In view of this Gen. Franklin considered
it his duty to remove the license of his sing-
ers as a simple method of avoiding dangerous
disorder. Gen. Kearney had the family ar-
rainged before him, and informed them that
there where so many of different opinions 1n
regard to slavery were gathered together no
abolition songs could be permitted. Gen.
Franklin also gave the vocalists gome whole-
some advice.

Governor Curtin.
Governor Curtin appears to be a true rep-
resentative of the Republican party, unscru
pulous despotic and better on partizan ma-
lignity than David Wilmot of the Bradford
District ever dared to be. When Byerly, of
Philadelphia, was convicted of fraud upon
the ballot box, giving a Republican an elec-
tion to Congress over a Democrat that was
rightfully elected and has since got his seat.
Governor Curtin pardoned the notorious
scoundrel, thus giving ecuntenance to for
geries and frauds upon the most sacred right
that the freemen of this country possess. In
Luzerne county be gives a certificate to a
Republican who was not elected, because he
was a Republican, and withholds a certificate
from a Democrat who was elected. In Ly-
coming county, where the Jury and Court
found soree mobbites guilty of riot and as-
sault and battery, and fined them 15 or 20
dollars and tae cost of Court, the Governor
sends an edict of pardon, thus overturning
the authority of the court and making a per-
fect mockery of trial by jury and judicial
proceedings. Where in the name of sense
i8 to be the end of these outrages. Is the
highest office in the Commonweath to be
rostituted into an engine of partizan favor
itism and to endorse fraud, riot and every
other outrage 2 There is no use holding
elections if the Governor means to defeat the
voize of the people, and there is little use
for law and courts of justice, if he continues
to interfere and set aside its decisions.—

= There is not a word of truth in the
report, said to have originated in Washing-
ton last week, that Mr. Buchanan had refus-
ed a seat in Mr. Lincoin’s Cabinet. No
such offer has yet been made.
