nance for the removal of the snow from the
side walks within a limited period after the
flakes have ceased to fall—And where the
provisions are not complied with, the viola
tor will have to pay the penalty imposed.
PROTRACTED NI LKTING.—The protracted
meeting commenced in the M. E. Church Itf
this place some ten days ago is still in pro
gress. Rev. Mr. Snyder, the Pastor, has
preached nearly every night since its com
mencement. lie has truly, during his rtdnv
istenal career in this place labored hard for
the interests of the Church and the salva
tion of souls. We arr pleliged that quite
an interest prevails among the people, and
that there is a prospect of a revival of reli
gion.

delivered by Joseph (i Stone, Esq., at liar

lected a subject in which the citizens of our
County are deeply interested. We suggest
that a committee be spriiritori to invite r Mr
Stone to repeat hr+ lecture in this place
some time during Court week.
NOT FOILGOTTKN - The cotripositors of the
Watchman, in common with those of the
other offi•es of this place, were entertained,
by Mr. James It Beck, out New Year's day,
in a manner which showed that Ins heart
was in the right place. The repast, to
