before among the gdold people of Pennsylva
nia.

would be in attendance at that Encampment,
arid wished the Captains of all companies that
intended going to reivrt to I on or Vupir
Fisher immediately. lie also read and ex

circus performer. recently attached to Spal

Mr. Roberts, landlord oratotel in Liberty,
Missouri.
It appears that, on reaching the town on
the 27th May, the deceased determined at
hazards to see his wife, who had been di
vorced from bun and who aas now travel

to the beret, examtordther register, and wis
ed the landlord to be conducted to the room
of his wife, as hu wished to see her. To
this request the landlord refused permis
sion. Ho then made a movement to proceed
up stairs unaccompanied, wheir the land
lord, armed with a bowieknife, immediately
stepped forward in a threatening attitude to
dispute the passage. -Hard words ensued,
and., drawing their weapons simultaneously,
a desperate light occurred. McFarland was
stabbed in the neck, separating the jugular
vein, and- was also cut several times in the
body ; the first blow being enough to cause
dentin an be died in about three miuntes af
ter. The deceased drew his revolver and
flrld one load, but missed his' antagonist.
