A Great Improvement. —Last week the street Supervisor had a number of bands at work scraping the mod off Virginia street, and consequently it now presents a decent appearance. We hope it will not be long until all the streets in Altoona are pebbled and can be scraped. To undertake scraping some of the cross streets would be quite a Job, as it is hardly certain that there is any bottom to them, judging from the manner in which wagon wheelji go in to the hub. Officers and soldiers arresting deserters, will be justified in shooting any person who may interfere with them while discharging their ditties.
