On motion, the Council will hereafter hold their regular meetings on the first Monday evening of each mouth. On m ot >on, adjourod to meet-on the first Monday of April, lSGl,ut 7 o'clock, P. M.—[Extractt from Jfmutes.] Going to tub Citt.— Persons .often start for the city without having determined where to •top, hoping certainly to find a good place.— Upon their arrival many places offer to take them inland it frequently happens that some arc badly taken in, and only find the good place hoped fur after sundry vexations, decays and disaster*. To avoid these we would advise all persons visiting Philadelphia to determine be fore starting, to stop at the Reverb House, 3d et- above Race. This House, well known «e the “ Eagle Hotel,” has been rechristened and refitted by Messrs. Rhoads & Sailor, whom you will always find devoted in their attention to the yronts and comforts of their .guests. The “Revere” i* central to business. Give it a trial, and we, feet assured you will find it a pleasant-house during your visit, and will thank oa for the advice. For terms .see card. * Through Stock Thairs.— On Monday and Tuesday mornings last, tha first stock train on •sob side, on the Pennsylvania Rail Road, was run through from this place to Harrisburg, with out change of locomotives or meh at Mifflin, as heretofore. The immense shops pat up at Har risburg are now nearly ready for the accommo dation of workmen and locomotives. When they are completed, which will be in the course of a monthy>r two, all freight trams, with tha exception of the Local Freight, will be ran through from this to change of men or motive power. j* 4 Mors Cottor.— Over 1800 bales of cotton krrisd in Pittsburgh in one day, last week, for shipment over the Pennsylvania Rail Road to the Lastern markets. Certainly the course pur sued by the Southern or gulf States is working to the injury of their internal improvements.— The fact that so much cotton has been shipped via Northern routes, proves that the cotton growers of the South have tncre confidence in Northern transporters than in the men and in ktitutors of the seceding States. Paper Neck-Ties.— Application hsi been made by a firm in New York, for a patent for paper neck-ties, printed in imitation of silk and gingham with great exactness npd beauty. The Scientific American' says this firm sold last sea son of the single style of cloth neck-ties^ seven teen thousand dozen. We have not seen any o.f the articles in ibis neighborhood yet, but pre sume they willsoon bo. along. i The Crittenden resolutions came np as the regular order •wfthe day, and were called up' on third yeading. The yeaa and nays being called for, they were voted down! On motion of McMinn of (Min.) The resolutions relative to suffering Kansas, was referredjto Comm it tee on finance. Cramer, of (R. I.) introduced tjlo Pe'pce Congress resolc iioos, which was ably discussed by Bemhower, of (Penn.) Good, of (pel.) and Lehr of (Kan.) pending Mr, Lehr’s re marks, the Senate adjourned, ' , Pcsmsc Aloxo.—We mean chip neighbor dorm stairs, A. Roush.
