An aperient and stomachic preparation of lron ptfrifibd
of Oxygen and Carbon by combustion in Hydrogen. 'Sanc
tioned by the highest Medical Authorities, both in Europe
and the United States.-aud prescribed in their practice.
The experience of thousands daily proves that no prepa
ration, of Iron can be compared with it. Impurities of the
blood, depression of,vital energy, pale and otherwise sickly
complexions indicate its necessity in almost every concei
vable caso.
In Debility, Nervous .Affections, Emaciation, Dyspepsia,
Constipation, Diarrhoea, Dysentery , Incipient Consumption,
Scrofulous Tvlberculbsis, Salt Kheum, Slismenstruation,
Whiles, Chlorosis, Liver Complaints, Chronic fleadaches,
Kheumalism, Intermittent Peers, Pimples on the Pice. dc.
In cases of General Debility, w hether the result of acute
disease, or of thecuiitiuucd diminution of nervous and mus
cular energy from chronic complaints, one trial of this re
storative hits proved aucceggfnl to an. extent which no de
scription nor. written attestation would render credible.—
Invalids so lung, bed ridden us to have become forgotten in
their own neighborhoods, huve suddenly re-appenred in the
busy world os if just returned from a protracted travel' in
a distant land. Some very signal instances of this kind are
attested by Female sufferers, emaciated Victims of apparent
marasmus, sanguineous exhaustion, critical changes, and
the complication of nervous and dyspeptic aversion to air
and exercise, for which the physician has no name.
In Nervous Afflictions of all kinds, and for reasons fa
miliar to medical men, the operation of tills preparation of
iron must necessarily be salutary, fur. unlike the old ox
ides, it is vigorously tonic, without being exciting and
overheating; and gently, regularly aperient, even in the
most obstinate cases of costivcocss without ever being a
gastric purgative, or inflicting a disagreeable sensation.
It is this latter property, among others, which makes it
so remarkably effectual and permanent a remedy (or Piles,
upon which it also appears to exert u distinct aud specific
action, by dispersing the local tendency which forms them.
In Dyspepsia, iunumerable as are its causes, a single box
of these Chalybeate Fills lias often sufficed for the most
habitual cases, including tho attendant Oostiveness.
Id unchecked Diarrhoea, oven 'when advanced to Dysen
tery, confirmed, emaciating, and api'nreutly malignant,
the effects have been equally decisive and astonishing.
In tho local pains, loss of flesh and strength, debilitating
cough, and remittent hectic, which generally indicate In
cipient Consumption, this remedy has allayed the alarm
of friends and physicians, in several very gratifying and
interesting instances.
In Scrofulous Tuberculosis, this medicated iron has had
far more than the good effect of the most cautiously bal
anced preparations of iodine, without any of their well
known liabilities.
Tbe attention of females cannot be too confidently invi
ted to tliis remedy and restorative, iu tbe cases peculiarly
afflicting them.
In itheumatism. both chronic and inflammatory—in tbe
latter, however, more decidedly—it has been invariably
well reported, both as alleviating'thu pain and reducing the
swellings and stiffuess of tbe joints And muscles.
In intermittent Fevers it must necessarily be a great re
medy aud energetic restorative, aud its progress in the now
settlements of tiro West, will probaby bo duo of high re
nown aud usefulness. - ~
No remedy has been discovered in the whole history of
medicine, which exerts such prompt, happy, and fully re
storative effects. Good appetite, complete digestion, rapid
acquisition of strength, with an unusual disposition fur
active and cheerful exercise, immediately follow its use.
Put up In flat metal boxes containing 5u 'pills, price 50

Iris a fact that, at somo period, every nwm
bar of the ham an family is subject to
or disturbance of tho bodily functions; but.
with the aid of a good tonic and the exeroitt
of plain common sense, they may be able so to
regulate the system as to secure permanent ' '
health. In order to accomplish this desired
object, the true course to pursue is certainly
that which will produce a natural state of
things at the 1 least hazard of vital strength and
life. For this purpose. Dr. Hostetler has in
troduced to this country a preparation bearing
his name, which is not a new medicine, but one
that has been tried for years, giving satisfac
tion to all who have nsed it. The Bitters
operate powerfully upon the stomach, bowels,
and liver, restoring them to a healthy and
vigorous action, and. thus, by the simple pro
cess, of strengthening nature, enable the sys
tem to triumph over disease.
For the cure of Dyspepsia, Indigestion, Nan
sea, Flatulency, Loss ofvAppetite, or any Biliooa
Complaints, arising from a morbid inacUoa
of tho Stomach or Bowels, producing Cramps,
Dysentery, Colic, Cholera Morbus, &0., these
Bitters have no equal.
Diarrhoea, dysentery oir fliix, so generally con
tracted by new settlers. and caused principally
by the change of water and diet, will b$ speedily
regulated by a brief use of this preparation.
Dyspepsia, a disease which is probably mors
prevalent, in all its various forma,, than any
other, and the cause of which may always
be attributed to derangements of- the digestive
organs, can bo cured without fail by using
HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BITTERS, asp«
directions on the bottle. For this disease every
physicianwill recommend Bitters of some hind;
'then why not use an article known to be infal*
lible T All nations have their Bitters, as a pre
ventive of disease and strengthened of the sys
tem in general; and among them all there is
not to be found a more healthy people than
the Germans, from whom this preparation ema
nated, based upon scientific experiments which
have. tended to prove tho value of this gnat
preparation in-the scale of medical science.
Fkveb aw> Aac*.—This trying and provok
ing disease, which fixes its relentless grasp e»
the body of man, reducing him to a mere sha
dow in a short time, and rendering him phy
sically and mentally useless, can be driven
from the. body by the use of HOSIETTEE’g
RENOWNED BITTERS. Further, none of ths
above-stated diseases can be contracted, even
in exposed situations, if the Bitters aro used
as per directions. And as they neither crests
nausea nor offend the palate, and render un
necessary any change of. diet or interruption
of ordinary pursuits, but promote sound sleep
and healthy digestion, the complaint is re
moved as speedily as is consistent with the pro
duction of a thorough and permanent cure.
For Person* in Advanced liars, who ere
suffering from au enfeebled constitution end
infirm body, these Bitters are invaluable ei a
restorative of strength and. vigor, and need
only be tried to be appreciated. And to a
mother 'while nursing these Bitters are. indis
pensably, especially where the mother’s nour
ishment is inadequate to the demands of the
cbildf-Oonsequently her strength must yield,
and hero it is where a good tonic, such ai
Hostetler’s Stomach Bitters, is needed to impart
temporary strength and vigor to the system.
Ladles should by all means try this remedy
for all cases of debility, and, before so doing,
should ask their physician, who, if -he It
acquainted with the virtue of the Bitters, will
recommend their use in all cases of weakness.
CAUTION-—Wo cautJbnthe public against using
any of tho many imitations or counterfoils, bat ask
for Hostetter’s Celebrated Stomach Bitters,
and seo that each bottle has the words * w Dr. J.
ilostetter’s' Stomach Bitten” blown on tho Side
of the bottlo, and stomped on the metallic cop
covering the cork, oqd observe that our autograph
signature is on the label. '
