House. —The house just erected by the Rail Road Company for the residence of Mr. Wilson, the Resident Engineer is a mbdel house in every respect. Not only does the oat side realize our idea of architectural beauty, but the inside is finished off .in such a manner as to make it a model house. All the rooms are provided with hot air registers and closets. Those on the first floor have Italian marble mantles—those on the second and third stories, marble wash stands. There arc gas fixtures in every room. There is also a cooking range in the kitchen, a bath bouse, a pantry, and in short every convenience the heart could desire. The painters, under the charge of Mr. J. W. Webber, are just finishing the oak grain ings of three of the rooms, in a style of excellence unsur passed', having already painted the remainder of the house with virgin white brilliant enough to dazzle the eyes. The plumbing and gas fitting is the work of Geo. A.. Ogelsby, a very finished workman. The winding stairs with their splen did balusters and railings—superior to anything of the kind ever put up in this place, were made and ereoted by Thomas M’Minn, than whom few, if any, understand that branch of business better. Whenever wo get rich—which we do no* expect to be for some time to come—we shall build just such a house. As Oasis is the Desert.—Everybody will remember Tuesday morning as being dark and gloomy. The Band Concert.— The Concert of the Al toona Brass Band, given at the Rifles Armory on Saturday evening last was a decided success in every sense of the word. The brass and stripg band, as well as the Glee Clubs, acquitted themselves admira bly, but our talented friend Dougherty took down all with his -Milesian songs. llis “ Sol dier in the Army’’ was applauded to the echo, and he was compelled to aing it several times to satisfy the audience.
