THE DAILY EVENING TELEGRAPH PHILADELPHIA, THURSDAY, J ONE 22,' 1871. 3 MUSICAL AND DRAMATIC. Th Cllr Amniimtnt , At ttii Acammt r Music this evening Wr. John 8. F.siHn will personate "Claude Mel Dott," In Hulwer play of The Lady of Lyons. Mr. Estlln baa devoted himself for fifteen rears to Ibe earnest study of this character, and he baa evolved tome new and original Ideas with Tf card to It out of the depths of his Inner con sciousness. Those who propose to attend at the Academy this evening; reed not expect to wit nets stereotyped performance, for Mr. Estiin Is, we understand, determined to b nothing; If not original, and the discreditable combination that hai been formed against him by certain hireling critics In the pay of Messrs. Forrest, Davenport, Booth, and other members of the dramatic profession who desire to crush hlro, has determined him to forsake the worn-out traditions of the stage and to strike out a new line for himself. He appeals to the pnbllc, for a verdict njon his efforts, and the public eTer anxious to encourage true Re nins with generous applause, will doubtless crowd the Academy to Its utmost capacity this evening.
