A CASE OF TWENTY YEARS' STANDING.
Philadelphia, Pa., June 85, 1S67.
H. T. Helmbold, Druggist:
Dear Sir: I have been a sufferer for over twenty
years with gravel, bladder and kidney affections.
during which time I have nsed various medicinal
preparations, and been under the treatment of the
most eminent physicians, experiencing but little re
lief.
Having seen your preparation extensively adver
tised, I consulted my family physician In regard to
using your extract Buchu.
I did this because I had used all kinds of adver
tised remedies, and had found them worthless, and
some quite Injurious ; In fact, I despaired of ever
getting well, and determined to use no remedies
hereafter unless I knew or the ingredients. It was
this that prompted me to use your remedy. As you
advertised that it was composed of buchu, cubebs,
and juniper berries, it occurred to me and my phy
sician as an excellent combination ; and, with his
advice, after an examination of the article, and con
sulting again with the druggist, I concluded to try
It. I commenced to use It about eight months ago,
at wnicn time i was connned to my room.
From the first bottle I was astonished and grati
ned at the beneficial effect, and after using It three
weeks was able to walk oat. I felt much lUe writing
to you a run statement of my case at the time, but
thought my Improvement might only be temporary,
and therefore concluded to defer, and see If it would
effect a perfeot cure, knowing that it would
be of greater value to you and more satisfactory to
me.
Ism now able to report that a cure is effected
after using the remedy lor five months.
I have aoi used any now lor three months, and
feel as well In all respects as I ever did.
Your Buchu being devoid of any unpleasant taste
and odor, a nice tonic aad Invtgorator of the system,
I do not mean to be without it whenever occasion
may require Us use on such occasions.

Editor Cosmopolite: 1 desire as an unsolicited tri

for the benefit of those similarly afflicted as myself,
to say that after consulting many eminent physi
cians, and trying nearly all the best advertised
remedies, In the vain hope of finding reller from
aggravated kidney and bladder diseases from which
I have suffered excessively for many "years, good
fortune finally suggested to me HELMBOLD'S
BUCHU, which I commenced using with little faith
and no apparent beneficial result for about a month.
At the expiration of that time, however, I thought I
commenced to experience slight relief, which en
couraged me to persevere In its use, and now, at the
expiration of four months, although I am an inarm
old man, nearly seventy-eight years of age, and con'
sequevtly medicines cannot be expected to favor
ably affect me as they otherwise would, I have found
such unspeakable relief and permanent benefit from
Mr. Helmbold's valuable discovery, that I feel I
ought to publicly record the fact, as an acknowledg
ment to him, and a valuable suggestion to the
public.

CURE OF A SEVERE CASE.
Philadelphia, Oct. 87, 1865.
Dr. Helm bold:
Sir: Some twelve months slne I contracted the
syphilis, and, not knowing then Its nature, I paid
but little attention to it, until I was alarmed by
large sores appearing on my face, Inside my mouth,
and also I could feel them In my throat. I then ap
plied to a physician, who recommended mercury. I
followed his advice, and was under his treatment
four months, and did not receive any benefit ; on the
contrary, I became worse, as my system was debili
tated from the effects of the mercury, and the dis
ease was not eradicated, as it would break out in
different parts of my body. I was recommended to
apply to you. I did so, and am pleased to Inform you
that I am once more well, and feel confident that I
should not have been so had I not used your Extract
Sarsaparilla and Rose Wash.
Truly yours, W. M.YOUNG.
A WONDERFUL CURE.
Frankfobd, Pa., Angust 28, 1356.
Dr. Helmbold:
Sir -.-Some three or nearly four years since I was
unfortunate enough to become affected with the
syphilis, and as It did not occasion much Inconve
nience I paid no attention to it until It made suck
rapid progress that my whole system was affected
by It, and I had sores all over my body, of various
sizes; my hair c mmenced coming out, and also my
eyebrows; in fact, I was completely poisoned wits
It. I then applied to a physician, who stated that
the only cure was mercury. This I took In large
quantities, and at first concluded It was curing me,
but I soon found out that It was only partial, as It
would break out again as bad as ever. 1 used dif
ferent hair-washes and restoratives, to no avail, as
my hair would be continually coming out, and I was
very weak from the effects of the mercury. I had
pains In my bones and In different parts of my body,
and concluded there was no hope or relief for me.
My face was so full of these Bores that I could not
go Into company, and I felt that every one must
know the cause. I wished for death to rid me of
this torment. I was in this condition when I saw
your advertisement, and concluded to place myself
at once In your charge, and I am now entirely cured ;
my face is healed, and has a healthy appearance. I
have not had a sore on me for three months, and I
feel as well as ever. My hair has grown out again.
I feel that my life has been saved by your valuable
Ext. Sarsaparilla, Robo Wasa, and Catawba Grape
Juice Puis.
I am, sir, your obedient servant,
UY. McDERMOTT,
