THE OIL REGIONS,
Klonthly Statement for May Production
nd Development-Well. Drilling. Stock
on Hand Shipment., Etc. Etc.
We make the following extracts from the
Titusville Herald's oil statement for the month
ol May:-"
The month of May shows an Increased pro
duction over that of April, amounting to about
six hundred barrels daily. The Increase occur
red principally In the river districts In the
vicinity of Foster farm, on the Allegheny,
where an increase of about three hundred bar
rels is shown, and at Parker's Landing, where
it amounted to about one hundred and fifty bar
rels more than the dally average of April.
Church run, near Titusville, Increased over two
hundred barrels per day, and a score of other
tracts, Including the Enterprise, New York, and
Dennis' run, Tldioute and Warren, near Tidi
oute, and several small tracts in the vicinity of
rieasantvllle, upon which there was an increase
varying from ten to twenty barrels per day.
The following table shows the production for
May, 1S71 :
BhbU.
Total shipment of crude for May, 1ST1, of
bbls. of 45 gallons each 639,709
Add to reduce to bbls. of 43 gallons each 25,luU
Total shipment of bbls. of 43 gallons each. . .565,811
Stock on hand May 1 083.G16
Stock on hand June 1 554,424
Deduct decrease on June 1 131,19
Total production during May 433,619
Average per day iori ujb u,bi
Average per day In May, 1S70 14,165
Dally Increase May, 1870, over May, 1971 173
There was no marked decrease at any point
in the oil region, and the month was most favor
able for operating in every particular.
The largest decrease in any one district in the
region occurred ai itouseviue, upon the Mitcneu
form, where it reached fifty barrels dally. The
McCray and adjacent tracts near Petroleum
Centre exhibit a total falling off in petroleum
of about forty barrels per day. The J. 8.
McCray farm alone decreased about ten barrels
daily. At Kouseville and vicinity the total de
crease on various farms amounted to over one
hundred barrels. Reno, Brady's Bend, and
Pithole also show a slight decline for the
month, as do several tracts in the vicinity of
gbamburg.
West Hickory shows little change from the
previous month, the total decline in May
amounting to about twenty barrels per day.
Of the amount of benzine used we have no
Accurate figures. Over twenty thousand barrels
were snipped into the region by the dnierent
railroad lints duiinsr the month, which, in addi
tion to that supplied by refineries in the region,
would render the daily consumption not far
from one thousand barrels.
