International Typographical Union.
Baltimore, June 7 The International Typo
graphical Union met at it A. M.
A number of reports were made from com
mittees, and resolutions presented, among
which the following were adopted:
Kecolution admitting pressmen to member
snip in. unions.
Also, resolution that the Jurisdiction of all
subordinate unions extend half way to the next
union.
Also, leaving to subordinate unions the regu
lation of apprenticeship.
A motion to take from the table tbo resolution
offered on Monday last, to allow colored printers
the rights of membership in unions, was laid on
the table yeas, 44; nays, 17.
A resolution was adopted recommending arbi
tration instead of strikes for the settlement of
all points, and arraninjr the manner la which
it shall be effected.
Richmond, Va., was chosen as the place for
holding the next annual meeting.
The convention then went into secret session.
FROM NEW YORK.
Volunteers Drilling a t Niagara.
Niagara, N. Y.. Jane 7 A camp of volun
teers has been formed here for the annual four
teen days' drill. Between four and five thou
sand troops are on the ground. 8trlct military
discipline will be maintained. The bands ot the
regiments on passing American forts played
"Yankee Doodle," which was responded to by
loud cheering, from the United States troops.
Proposals for Bond.
New York, June 7. There were twelve pro
posals for bonds to-day, amounting to 81,904,
000. from 111-40 to 111 -IK). The awards will be
$1,000,000 at 111-03 to 111-90.
The Broadway Widening.
Wm. Wood was appointed on the commission
for the widening of Broadway, vice Win. E.
Dodge, declined.
Removing Obstructions In. New York
Harbor.
New York, June 7. The work of removing
the dangerous rocks in mid-channel between
Governors' Island and the Battery is finished.
Work will at once be resumed in blasting other
troublesome obstructions known as (Joentles
Reef, East River.

New Hampshire Polities.
Concord, N. II., June 7 At 11-15 the Gov
ernor and Council appeared in the Hall of
Representatives and administered the oath to
the members elect. The roll call showed all but
two members present. The whole number of
votes for Speaker was 837. Wm. H. Gove,
Democrat and Labor ileform, received 164.
James Q.Adams, of Manchester, Republican, 163.
Gove, the successful caudidate, is an old Aboli
tionist, and was nominated by the Democrats to
Becnre the Labor Reform vote for Governor.
The Republican candidate for President of the
Senate is George W. Kendrick, of Manchester.

Opposition to the Washington Treaty,
Halifax, June 7. The New Brunswick Gov
ernment has appointed three of its members,
Messrs. King, Moore, and Frazer, a delegation
to confer with the Governments of Nova Scotia
and Prince Edward's Island, with a view to
united action against the Washington treaty.
Superintendents' Meeting.
Toronto, Ont, June 7. The twenty-fifth
annual meeting of the American Association of
Superintendents of Lunatic Asylums is now in
session here. There is a large attendance of
members from all parts of the United States.
Dr. Common moved that the next meeting be
held in New Orleans the second Tuesday in
April, 1S?J. The motion was referred.

Asa Packer Elected President of the West
Jersey Railroad Company.
Newark. June 7. Eon. Asa Packer, of Penn
sylvania, was present to-day at tke meeting of
the stockholders of the West Jersey Railroad,
and signed an agreement to take charge of the
road and comclete it within eizhteen months,
and settle Its indebtedness. He was then chosen
President of the Board of Directors, with Robert
II. Say re. of the Lehigh valley Railroad, as
Vice-President, and others of the same road as
directors.

Lunatic Asylum Superintendent Elected.
Cincinnati. June 7. Dr. Joseph T. Webb
was yesterday elected Superintendent of Long
V lew Lunatic Asylum.
City Affairs.
Aldorman Ileins has committed Henry
Sebman to await the result of injuries in
flicted on Jacob Siegrist at Belgrade and
Thompson- streets, on Sunday night last. It
is charged tbat an attack was made on Mr.
Biecrist bv a number of men, and tbat Seb
man struck him with a club, fracturing his
skull. The wounded man s life is in danger.
Dr. Shapleigh, the Coroner's physician,
Yesterday investigated the case of the sudden
death of the child in St. Mary street, in which
it was suspected that the colored doctor ad
ministered poison. It was found that the
child died ef dropsy of the heart, produoed
bv debility from insufficient nutrition. Con
sequently the colored doctor was discharged.
The medicine given by him was perfectly
harmless.
Foreign Affairs.
It is said that J ales Ferry will be Minis
ter to Washington.
Ficard bas been appointed Governor of
the Bank of France.
The session of the German Parliament
will probably close on the 15th instant.
All the pieces of the Column Yendome
are found, and the monument will be exactly
restored.
The damage done to Paris by the fight
ing and fires of the Communists is set down
at 800,000,000 francs.
Twenty-five women were killed and fifty
in jured by a railway accident near Paris, on
Tuesday.
Juan George Kohl, a distinguished Ger
man navigator, died on Tuesday at Bremen,
in the G4tb year of his aae.
The obsequies of the late Arohbishop
TJarbov took place yesterday in Paris, at the
Cathedral of Notre Dame, with great pomp,
