A NEW TRUNK LINE FROM THE SEA
BOARD TO THE WEST,
Is already completed and in operation from Rich
mond to the celebrated White Sulphur Springs, 227
miles, and there remain but 200 miles now under
construction, to complete It to the Western torminus
on the Ohio river, 815 miles below Pittsburg, at the
head of reliable and continuous navigation.
The completed portion of the road Is doing a
GOOD LOCAL BUSINESS, which will bo enor
mously Increased as It progresses and opens the im
mense mineral riches of Virginia and West Virginia,
whose coal and iron are celebrated for their quality
and abundance, and would alone enrich the means
of communication which afford them access to the
markets East and West.
