Eunchbacks will be represented this even In if,

to Its attractiveness. Mr. Robert Butler, the
well-known "Clown," and Mr. H. C. Bernard,
the equally well-known "Pantaloon," will ap.
pear In a number of scenes from their panto
mime of The Seven Dwarfs. Nathaniel Rogers
and his sons will execute a number of acrobatic
feats, and two new ballets will be introduced.
These, with a variety of other novelties, will
make the pantomime more entertaining: than
ever.
At thi Chhshct Mr. Davenport will appear
this evening, to-morrow, and Wednesday as
"Sir Giles Overreach," la A Aew Way to Par
Old Debt. On Thursday a new play, entitled
The Marquis, translated from the French by
Mrs. E. E. Lewis, of this city, wili be produced,
with Mr. Davenport in the leading role.
On Friday evening, April 14th, Mr. Peter E.
Abel, the business manager, will have a benefit,
when Barnet's comedy of The Serious Family
will be represented. On this occasion Mrs.
P. E. Abel will make her first appearance at the
Chesnut. and will sing Kuchen's "Heaven Hath
Shed a Tear."
AtteiArgh Lottawill commence the fifth
and last week of her very successful engage
ment this evening, and will appear as "Topsy"
in the drama of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
At the Museum, Ninth and Arch streets,
the spectacle of Cherry and Fair Star, which
made a great hit last week, will be repeated this
evening and until further notice.
At the American a number of novelties ar
announced for this evening's Derfc"r"u, ,
Beck's Phit.i.-hia Band, No. I, will give
a grand concert at the Academy of Music on
the 13th Inst.

energy from both extremities of the line. Several
thousand men are employed In Minnesota and on

opened on the 6th day of March next, In this coun
try and In Europe, for subscriptions to the National
Loan, under the act approved July 14, 1970, entitled
"An Act to Authorize the Refunding of ihe Na
tional Debt," and the act in amendment thereof, ap
proved January 20, 1ST1.
Tho proposed loan comprises three classes or
bonds, namely:
First. Bonds to the amount of five hundred mil
lions of dollars, payable In coin, at tne pleasure of
the United States, after ten years from tne date of
their Issue, and bearing Interest, payable quarterly
In coin, at the rate of five per cenr. per annum.
Second. Bonds to the amount of three nundred
millions of dollars, payable In coin, at the pleasure
of the United States, after fifteen years from the
date of their lstue, and bearing Interest, payable
quarterly In coin, at the rate of four and a half per
cent per annunff
Third. Bonds to the amount of seven hundred
millions of dollars, payable in coin, at the pleasure
of the United States, after thirty years from the
date of their Issue, and bearing interest, payable
qcarterly in coin, at the rate of four percent, per
annum.
Subscription to the loan will have preference In
the following order, namely :
Fimt. SuiKcriptions that may be first made for
five per cent, bonds to the amount of two hundrod
millions of dollars ; of which there will be reserved,
for twenty doyp, one-half for sabrcrloers in this
country and OLc-half for subscribers in foreign
countries.
Second. Subscriptions for equal amounts of each
class of bonds.
lhird. Subscriptions for equal amounts of bonds
bearing interest at the rate of four and a half per
cent.,and of bonds bearing Interest at the rate of five
per cent
Fourth. Subscriptions for any five per cent, bonds
that may not be subscribed ior In the preceding
classes.
When a subscription Is made, the subscriber will
be required to deposit two per cent of the amount
thereof in coin or currency of the United States, or
in bom's of the class to be exchanged, to be ac
counted for by the Government when the new bonds
are delivered ; and payment may be made either In
coin or in bonds of the United States known as five
twenty bond?, at their par value.
The coin received in payment will be applied to
the redemption of five-twenty bonds, and the debt
of the United States will not be Increased by this
lonn.
The bonds will be registered or Issued with cou
pons, as may be dt tlred by subscribers. Registered
bonds will be Issued of the denominations of $so,
fiuo, M)0, fiooo, 5000, and $10,009; and coupon
bonds of each denomination except the last two.
The Interest will be payable in the United States, at
the olllce of the Treasurer, any Assistant Treasurer,
or designated depositary of the Government, quar
terly, ou the first days ol February, May, August,
and November In each year.
The bonds of tha feveia' classes aforesaid, and
the Interest thereon, are exempt from the payment
of all taxes or ru-.H of the United Sti'e-', as well as
from taxation In any form by or under State, muni
cipal, or local authority.
After maturity, the bonds last Issued will be first
redeemed, i y classes acd lumbers, as may te de
signated by the Secre'ary of the Treasury.
The bonds will be lafcuel at the United States
Treasury, tu. tie agents for the negotiation of the
loan In Europe are authorized to make arrangements
with subscribers for the transmission of the tonds
to the agents through whom Bubscriptioiu may be
received.
Subscribers in the United States will receive the
new bonds of the agents with whom the subscrip
tions are made.
In the United States the National Banks are au
thorized to receive subscriptions, and subscriptions
mar also be made at the omce of the Treasurer of
the United States, or of any Assiatant Treasurer, or
the Designated Depositaries at Buffalo, N. V. ; Chi
cago, I1L ; Cincinnati, Ohio ; Louisville, Ky. ; Mobile,
Ala. ; and Pittsburg, Fa.
P. 8. This Department and Us own Loan Agents
are now ready to receive tho United States Five
twenty Bonds, and to pay the gold luterestjthereon
to May 1, from which date the new bonds will bear
Interest. A scrip certificate, culling for the bonds
on the 1st of May, will be issued at once In exchange
