The Emperor will not return to Ger many until the conclusion ef the negotiations for peace. RrjolelDK Over the Profapnct of the War Ter uiloatlna. A despatch from Amiens states that on Jan 28tn a despatch was received from Versailles, announcing tbe cessation of hostilities. The announcement was made in the name of V.n Moltke, and caused Immense excitement. This bas been followed by a sudden calm, and the c hange in the attitude of the two armies Is marvellous to behold. Before, they were watch ing: for an opportunity to kill one another; they now halt when they meet and mingle together in groups, indulging in pleasant chat. The German soldiers look forward to tbe return of peace with great demonstrations of joy. On Jan. 31st the news of the armistice was re ceived at Amiens in a short, decisive telegram. The effect of this news npon the people was lndescribab'e. Joy and delight wero everywhere manifested at tho prospect of the close of the war. t There was a disposition at first to pay no at tention to the news of the armistice on the part of the army on the Sommo, but later despatches changed their attitude, and the Germans and French embraced each other. The great theme of satisfaction with the German soldieny is the speedy prospect of returning to fatherland. They all want to go home. FROM "WASHING TOJV. The Georgia benntors.
