AN ORDINANCE
To Authorize Ihe Appointment of a Stand
ing Committee, to bo called the Committee on
lloiif-c of Correction.
Section 1. The Select and Common Councils
of tLe city of Philadelphia do ordain, That tho
Presidents of Councils, immediatyly after the
patoge of this ordinance, aud annually there
alter, be and they are hereby authorized to ap
point a standing committee of niiio members
from Select Council and nine members front
Common fe'onncil, to be styled tlia Committee
oh llouee of Correction, and to which all
matters In connection with Ihe said House of
Correction bball be referred. And the joint
special committee on the same, an now consti
tuted, is hereby abolished after the passage of
this ordinance; provided the mombers of the
Select and Common Council appointed as the
Joint Special Committee for the current year
shall constitute the Standing Committee on
lloui-c of Correction for the year 1871.
