The body wai not recovered. ratrick Hart, apod fifteen years, residing at Charlotte and Thompson streets, while playing with a pistol on Sunday, shot himself in the hand, indicting severe injury. On Sunday evening, about twenty minutes past seven o'clock, a disturbance took place in the beer saloon of Philip Arnold, Third street, nearCoatea, during which a man named William Has was badly beaten about the head. He was taken to the Seventh dis trict station house, where his wounds were dressed, and then taken to his home. Philip Arnold, the keeper of tho saloon, and Jacob Dringcaht were arrested on the charge of com mitting the assault. They were held in 00 bail each to answer at court. As an ordinance has been introduced into Councils for the purchase of the original gold medal voted by Congress to General Washington, we give tho following extract of a private letter written to James L. Claghorn, of this city, by L. Montgomery Dond, of New York, and also a description of tho medal: 'The present status of the medal is this: It is in the hands of a well-known gentleman i of New York, who is raisiug subscriptions for it towards placing it in the possession of the Historical Society of New York. The price is to bo ))). I have prevailed on the family to withdraw it from that connection, being anxious myself to see it the property of the city of Philadelphia. Dr. Clemson also prefers that it should come here to his native city, and tho deduction of .",00 from the price is made for this reason. Please lot me know as early as practicable if it will be taken, as the subscription in New York will go on if not sold to you. "I cm, very dear sir, yours very truly, "L. Mont;omekx Bond. "James L. Claghorn, Esq." By a vole of Congress of March 1770, a gold medal was ordered to be struck for General Washington, and a vote of thanks nlso passed to him and the officers and troops under his command, for their wise and spirited conduct in the siege and acquisition of Boston. The design of the medal is com memorative of the evacuation of Boston, March 17, 1770, and represents General Washington sitting upon his horse on Dor chester Heights, observing in the distance the British embarking upon their ships in Boston Harbor. The General himself selected the device, thereby conferring a lasting honor upon the city of Boston and State of Massa chusetts. The obv. and rev. given in the cut are of the actual size of the medal. The in scription surrounding the head is thus trans lated: "The American Congress to George Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the Armies, the Asserter of Liberty." That hich surrounds the picture of the siege is: "The enemy first being put to flight, Boston was recovered March 17, 1770." This is the unly medal that was voted by Congress to WjibhiDgton. A disturbance took place on Sunday morning, about half-past 'J o'clock, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, corner of St. John und Brown streets. It appears that for some time a disagreement has existed among the members of the congregation, in relation to trie clergyman in charge, Rev. Mr. Reicke, a portion of the congregatioa claiming that ho Las no legal right to preach in the pulpit. On Saturday an injunction was granted, re training him from so doing. Be v. Dr. Man was accordingly requested to supply the pulpit on Sunday, and proceeded to the church lor that purpose. Having finished the open ing exercises, he commenced his discourse, when a number of the congregation rose to their feet and left the church. As they left the building the crowd on the outside commenced shouting and filling up the sidewalk in front of the building, thus preventing a free passage. The Mayor, hav ing been notified, sent a force of policemen, under Sergeant Gilchrist, who, on arriving on the ground, ordered the crowd to disperse, which they refusod to do, saying the property was theirs and they would not leave. He re peated his orders, each time meeting with a refusal, when he arrested Frederick Speill man, residing at No. 408 Poplar street; Ernest Letter, residing at No. 5;52 Poplar street; John Mohler, residing at No. H'.i Dana street; Matthew Milheiser, residing at No. ;'.3J Brown street. Tho parties were taken before Alderman Toland and held in $51)0 bail each for a breach of the peace and in citing to riot. Bev. Dr. Man, soon after the party left, came out of the church to go home, when a large crowd followed him using threatening words. The officers were finally obliged to surround him in order to protect him from violence. He was tlien escorted to his resi dence. The trustees of the church in conse quence of the disturbance ordered the doors tf the building closed, and no further service v. as held there during the day. Douieatic Affair.
