In the United States Senate on Saturday, cf ter the close of our report, the Indian Ap propriation bill was considered, pending which the Senate adjourned. Yellow fever was raging with great viru lence at Ilio at the date of last advices. Largo quantities of arms have, it is said, been recently despatched to the Cuban insur gents. The Englishmen recently captured by Spanish brigands have been released. The expected ministerial crisis in France has been averted by a vote in the Corps Le gislatif on Saturday. An English shipping journal calls for joint action by England and the United States against the extortions practised npon vessels arriving in Cuban waters. Montpensier's chance of gaining the Spanish crown is regarded as lost, the Cortez having resolved that no candidate shall be elected unless he receive a majority eijual to one half the full number of Deputies. A cable despatch from London says: "Despatches from the United States an nounce the receipt there of news of massacre of Jews by Christians in lloumania. No ad vices have reached here on the subject, and the Continental news agency deny that there has been any recent outrages upon the Jews of lloumania. A despatch from Bucharest states that a riot occurred last week at Botus cahly, a village in Moldavia, during a local election. It is described as an ordinary poli tical disturbance, being quelled without the interference of troops. Destructive Fire. About 11 o'clock on Saturday night a fire was discovered in the third story of the build ing, Nos. 15 and 17 South Third street, owned by J. G. ltosengarten & Son, occupied by J. B. Cornet, manufacturer of dress trim mings, etc., and "before the flames were ex tinguished, the fourth and fifth stories were burned out, and several adjoining buildings damaged by fire and water. Cornet's loss on machinery, stock, etc., will reach, it is sup posed, from &i:,000 to $2",000. The law and collection office of Fairthorne & Hand occu pying the first floor, was not reached by the fire. All the more valuable books and papers were wholly uninjured being in three large fire proofs, and the remainder received but 6light damage, owing to the promptness with which they were protected by the Insurance patrol. No interruption to the business of the firm will be earned by the fire. William Allen's restaurant in the base merit of No. 17 was also flooded. The loss is estimated at about yLOiJ; no insurance.- The second story, occupied by the Drug Exchange Association, was also damaged by water. The flames extended to the sixth story of building No. ia, owned and occupied by W. A. Drown & Co., who lose by water and fire from $10,000 to Jf 15,000, which is fully covered by insurance, This firm also have a store at No. 21C Market street, and joins the Third street building at the rear, but iron doors between the two buildings prevented the spread of the flames in that direction. Teuer & Co. 'a law and collection oilioei were in the first Btory of No. 13 South Third street. They lose from $500 to f (500 by water, which is covered by insurance, unuaiag lo. 1!, owned by Thomas and John L. Lawaon, was also damaged by water. J. M. Chase, manufacturer of shoe uppers, occupied the upper stories, and Mr. W. Ledyard, banker, tbe hrst story, and both parties sunereu con siderable loss by the constant stream of water flowing into the building. Mr. Chase a loss is covered by insurance. J. B. Comet estimates bis loss at $25,000, on w hich there is an insurance in the lioyal of $l)00o,and in the Spring Garden'Insurince office of $5000. The building is owned by Dr. llosenearten, who estimates his loss at $20,000. Tbe Insurance patrol were on the ground and saved a large quantity of goods, by the rovers which they placed over them. The stock of Newbereer & Hoehstader, clothiers, at the S. E. corner of Tiord and Market streets, was damaged to the extent of $.r00 by water covered by insurance. About 2 o'clock yesterday morning tho wheelwright shop of a Mr: Hrown, on Jeffer son avenue, above Washington, was slightly damaged by fire. Supposed incendiarism. About 4 o'clock yesterday morning the frame stable of Mr. li. J. Dobbins, situated above Urond street, and above Vine, was damaged by fire to the extent of about $."i(H).
