A large meeting ol the members of the
Knights of St. Crispin was held last evening
nt their hall, Seventh street, below Cuesuut.
Reports were read showing that several of
tb! hands were unemployed owing to a dull
ness of the trade, while others were out of
employment in consequence of an attempt
having been made by a city firm to reduce
their wnees. The married men who are out
of employment owing to the attempted redac
tion of their wages receive &10 per week from
the society, while the single men receive
about ft!. The. society is now one of the
lavpest trade societies iu the United States.

A new Funding bill will bo presented to
the House on Monday next, by the Way and
Means Committee.
The total losses of the Fenians daring the
late raid are now stated at eleven killed and
seventeen wounded, three mortally.
Reports from the Red Iliver, as to Itiehl's
intentions, are contradictory. One despatch
says that he is dissatished with the Manitoba
bill and will resist; another, that he is rob
bing the mails to obtain funds for a llight to
the United States.
The National Siengerfest will begin at
Cincinnati on Wednesday, Jane l..
There has been a severe storm on the
Northern Pacific eoawt. Several vessels are
reported w recked and lives lost.
William A. Summers, of Boston, has
been appointed Supervisor of Internal Reve
nue for Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Con
necticut. Walcott Hamlin, lately appointed
Supervisor, has been assigned to Maine,
Now Hampshire and Vermont.
A despatch from Wilmington, North Caro
lina, says the Republican County Conven
tion, which closed its session there on Thurs
day evening, nominated a colored man for
State Senator, three colored men for the As
sembly, and a colored Sheriff. The many
colored candidates nominated has caused dis
' satisfaction among the whites, and a split is
expected.
In the United States Senate yesterday,
fifter the close of onr report, on motion of
Mr. Sumner, the President was requested to
communicate information, if he has any,
regarding the reported persecution of
Israelites in Roumania. Pending the con
sideration of the Indian Appropriation bill,
the St nate adjourned.
In the House the discussion of the Tax
bill was continued, the income clause being
under consideration. Amendments were
adopted limiting the allowance for house rent
to $500, adding to the exemptions losses by
floods, find prohibiting the publication of
returns. Mr. Beck's amendment requiring
the tax to be deducted from United States
bonds was rejected. On reaching the last
Kection of the bill the House adjourned.

Strong measures against betting on races
are promised by the English Goveanment.
Great complaints are made by Americans
resident in London of the irregularities of the
Atlantic mail service.
Shirley Brooks succeeds the late Mark
Lemon as active editor of Punch.
Arrangements have been completed for
the annexation of the Duchy of Lauenburg to
the Kingdom of Prussia.
A majority of the Cortes Committee on
abolition of slavery are in favor of postponing
complete emancipation for sixty years.
THE ASSEMBLY.
Yesterday Atteruooa'a Meealon.
The Assembly met yesterday afternoon at
the usual hour. The first business being the
election of professors, directors, and trustees
of the various institutions under th control
of the Church, the present incumbents were
re-elected.
The report of the Publication Committee
was then resumed, Dr. C. C. Beatty, Hon.
William Strong, and Hon. W. E. Dodge dis
cussing the report until the hour of adjourn
mcnt. Evening Session. Itwas ordered thatHon.
V. E. Dodge and James Brown, Esq., of New
York, be added to the committee already ap
pointed to visit the churches of Great Britain,
Ireland, and Scotland.
Rev. M. Chapman introduced a resolution
declining, on behalf of the General Assem
bly, to assume charge of Highland Uniyersity,
which was agreed to.
Rev. Dr. Patterson, of Chicago, presented
certain communications from the Free Church
of Scotland illustrating the Sastentation
Fund of that Church. The documents were
referred to the Committee on Sustontation
Fund.
The consideration of the report of the
Committee on Publications was resumed and
discussed, the particular matter in dispute
being the authorization of the raising of
$100,000 for the Publication Committee, such
amount to be included in the $5,000,000
Memorial Fund. The section was so amended
as to apply the amount to all Presbyterian
interests, and the report was adopted.
Dr. William Adams moved that the Assem
bly adjourn sine die to-morrow at li o'clock,
which was agreed to.
Dr. Howard Crosby then read tha reports
on church erection and extension, already
published, which were adopted.
The report of the Committee on the Ileidel
. burg Catechism waB agreed to. The Assembly
then adjourned. ,

following is the document in full:
The ' will of' the above-named gen
tleman wus admitted to v probate , on
Tuesday. It shows that while he was not
nniuindful of the ohurch with which he had
been for many years connected, and charita
ble organizations connected with it, he made
most ample provision for tnose of his house
hold who survived him.
The following contains all the bequests,

children, children of my dear son Jonathan
D. riiillips, deceased Frank D., Charles D.,
and Maria Phillips.
Item I give and bequeath to each of my

necessitous cases of the superannuated and
worn-out preachers of said Church, and the
aged widows of such as have served for
twenty years and upwards, and are dependent.

Home of the city of Philadelphia one 1000
bond of the Philadelphia and Reading Rail
road, the interest to be applied to the support
of the institution, tinless the principal is
needed to put up a new building, and then to
be so applied.

Rachel Manderson, the interest of 1000
during all the term of her natural life. ,

Item All the residue of my estate, real,
personal, and mixed, of whatever kind or
wherever situated, I give to my son Charles

ceive their father's share as though he were
living.
Item I direct that Atwood Grace (attor-ney-at-law)
shall be the legal adviser of my
executors and trustees; and in case of any
difficulty, the matter shall be submitted by
my counsel and executors to F. Carroll Brews
ter, whose decision shall be final and binding
upon all parties interested.
And lastly, I nominate my son Charles D.
Thillips and Theodore Kitchen to be my ex
ecutors of this my last will and testament,
and hereby revoke all other wills and testa
ments by me at any time heretofore made.

The will is dated on the 30th of April, 18C0,
and is witnessed by J. Plankington and
Joshua Wright. The estate of Mr. Phillips
is estimated to be worth a million of dollars,
though some persons make it much higher
than that.

Notice Is hereby given that a lightvessel, exhibit
ing a tixed white light illuminating the entire hori
zon, will be placed, on or about J.me 1, ls70, in 'A)4
fathoms water, near the southeastern extremity or
the sXi al making out from Bernini's Point, entrance
to the Ohoptauk river, east side Chesapaake Bay,
Maryland, to serve as a guide or leading mart for
vessels bound up or down the river, and also as a
guide to the channel between Castle Haven and
( hlora Points, and into Tred Haven river and Fox's
Hole creek anchorage, Inside of Benoni's Point Bar.
The tight will he' shown from sunset to sunrise, at
au elevation of 34 feet, and should be seen in clear
weather from the deck of a vesBel tifteen feet aoove
the water, ten nautical miles. The vessel is 41 tons,
new measurement, schooner-rigged, hull painted
lead color, masts white, with the words "Ulioptank
Btver'' painted In large white letters on each side,
uinl the number "'2:'' in white on the stern.
A log bell and fog horn will he souuded alternately
dtn ing thick or foggy weather.
