Toliceman Dunn, on Saturday morning,
took to tbe Almnhonse a three-dajR-old babe,
which he found on the steps of No. 3453
Darby road.
Nelson Anthony, eighteen years old, re
siding at the Blue Bell, was thrown from a
horse yesterday by the nnimal running away,
and had one of his legs broken.
Fatriok Carroll, who was arrested several
weeks ago by the agent of the V. B. O. T. 8.
-F. T. P. O. C. T. A., on the charge of abet
ting in a cock-fight, was on Saturday dis
charged by Alderman Kerr.
Betsy Carr, thirteen years old, residing
in Angora street, had one of her hands badly
lacerated on Saturday, At Collagan's factory,
by its beiDg caught in the machinery. Two
of the fingers were cut or torn off.
-Daniel Curran, sixteen years old, resid
ing on Bainbridge street, above Eighth, had
one of his bauds crushed on Saturday
between the guards of a steamboat and a
wharf.
Sheriff Lyle gives official notice to the
following absent husbands to appear and
show cause, before the Court of Common
Fleas, on the 1st Monday of June next, why
divorce from the bonds of matrimony should
not be granted to their appealing wives:

Joseph Emerick, from his wife Elizabeth;
Thomas A. Tuylor, from his wife Mary; John
Walter, from his wife Julia; Benedict Abend,
from his wife Dorothea; Frank II. Kirkbride,

his wife Elizabeth; Charles Hay, from his

General Butler has gone to Boston.
An Indian outbreuk is imminent in the
Red Kiver country.
The Senate will resume the consideration
of the Appropriation bill to-day.
The President says he will not remove
Collector Casey, of New Orleans.
On and after to-day the House is to meet
at 11 and adjourn at 5 o'clock.
Commissioner Delano says that beer
stamps may be cancelled according to the old
method.
Two persons were killed by lightning du
ring a storm which passed overScranton on
Saturday night.
The House Printing Committee have
agreed to print two thousand copies of the
Gold Panic report.
There are at present nearly two hundred
bilis upon the Speaker's table in the House,
and as many more in the Senate.
It is believed the Senate bill to enforce
the fifteenth amendment will pass the House
to-day under a suspension of tho rules.
An agent has arrived in Chicago from
Bichl, to get O'Neill and his Fenians to hurry
np in their movements against tbe British
troops.
The Venezuelan revolution has proved
entirely successful thus far. Caraccas and
several other cities of importance have fallen
i into their hands.
President Monagas of Venezuela, finding
tbe revolutionists too much for him, sur-
i rendered, and was released on parole. A new
i oovernment has been formed.
The workmen on the Kansas Pacific
lJlailroad refuse to work on the road another
. day, unless provided with arms to defend
'themselves a trains t the Indians. General
! Sheridan has been asked for 500 stand of
arms.
Foreign Affair.
The Bavarian Chamber refuses to abolish
the death penalty.
The infallibility discussion in the (Ecu
menical Council is to close on June 29.
Paris was illuminated on Saturday night
in honor of the declaration of the viebixcitum.
The closing of the Sault Ste. Marie Canal
is regarded by the London Observer as an act
of studied unfriendliness.
A proposition to abolish capital punish
ment throughout the Netherlands and its de
pendencies has passed the Dutch Parliament.
Prime Minister Duke de Louie, of Portu
gal, refused to sign the decree appointing
General Saldanha as his successor because the
Kinc was under duress. Nevertheless he was
accepted . as Prime Minister and has made
some oroeress in the formation of iaa new
Cabinet.
