' The annual meetiosr of .tha ReDnblican Invincible Club, to elect an eieentive com mittee for 1870, was held last sight at the Assembly Buildings, Mr. Alex. P. Gotesbary presiding, and Mr. II. G. Hawkins acting as (Secretary. A motion to proceed with ita election being adopted, the President stated that it was Lia official dity to select teller, and be then appointed George ' Trnuiaa, Charles Darragb, and Colonel 15. L. Taylor. A member nominated two gentlemen to act as tellers. The Chairman rnled it out of order, and considerable confusion ensued. An appeal from the decision was made, and after a division the President declared that the appeal was not sustained. ! A great up roar followed, which finally terminated in a large number of those present leaving the room. Printed tickets were then distributed, and the election proceeded with, and while the tellers were counting the votes, speeches were made by Colonel Wm. McMichael, Lewis Wain Smith, J. K. McCammon, 8. W. Penny pecker, and others. Those wbo left the room organized a meet ing outside, at which an Executive Committee was also selected. Thus the Invincibles com mence the campaign with a serious split in their ranks. The Grand Jury of the United States District Court yesterday found a bill of in dictment against Messrs. McDevitt & Young, rectifiers; George Shaffer and Augustus Crowell, for the alleged removal of whisky in fraud of the revenue laws; and William B. Grover, on the charge of aiding in the manu facture and circulation of counterfeit beer (tamps. The Board of Trustees of the Northern Home for Friendless Children have elected the following-named gentlemen its officers for the current year: President, J. Wiegand; Treasurer, James L. Claghorn; Secretary, M. J. Mitcheson; Assistant Secretary, Theodore Earp; Solicitors, J. J. Barclay, M. J. Mitche Bon. John Mason, aged twenty-six years, re siding at No. 2509 Pine street, fell from a fence yesterdey and broke an arm. Albert Rummell, residing at No. 1121) Kates street, fell from a ladder yesterday, at Arch and Twenty-second streets, and was severely in jured. Both sufferers were taken to the Pennsylvania Hospital. The District Court yesterday reappointed the following gentlemen Inspectors of the County Prison: Drs. John B. Biddle, A. Hodman Paul, and Edw. II. Trotter.
