GENERALITIES.
Woodburv'a Dry Bones.
The neotile of Woodbar ( Woodbnrv?Y New
Jersey, are greatly excited about the recent dis
covery of a large bed of human bones, on a farm
about one mile southeast of the town. The bed
is several feet in thickness, and two or threo
rods in extent, and the bones are lying within
threo feet of the surface. The owner of the
farm, before lcavincr for Philadelphia, cave in
structions to his men to cart some earth from an
adjoining field to cover a compost heap. Un his
return in the evenine he found to his surprise
that the heap was partially covered
with human bones. The neighbors were
informed, and upon examination it was
louna that tnls mass oi bones were
piled in together promiscuously, and are of an
unusually larco size. The bottom of the bed is
thickly covered with charcoal, ana tne lower
tier of bones fall to pieces as soon as touched.
Those on top are well preserved, and are but
little affected by the length of time burled. A
committee of townspeople was appointed to
take some specimens to the professors of the
Academy of Sciences of Philadelphia, and next
week a scientific examination will be mode. It
is supposed that they arc the bones of an Indian
tribe, but so far there are none of the war In
dian relics found among the bones, which leaves
some doubts on tnls point. N. 1 . Tribum.
An Astounding Crime In Spain.
The Oaulois gives an account of a horrible
and mysterious affair in Spain, which it first
heard by telegraph, and which it says it would
not believe had not the details (yet incomplete)
been confirmed by a letter from its own corre
spondent, Al. .Miranda, llie story is tnat on
February 17 a band of people (number not
stated) broke Into a house at Alcira, a little
village near Valencia, at 3 in the morning.
They cot in by making a hole in the roof. The
name ot the owner of this house was M. Baluda.
He was in bed with his wife. The invaders pulled
them out of bed, and put gags in their
mouths. Then they went to the rooms where six
children were Bleeping. These children they
bound with cords, and then, in sight of their
parents, they tore out tneir eyes and tongues,
Afterwards they cut off the feet of M. Baluda
and bis eldest son, named Vincent, but purposely
left tne tendon near the heel unsevered, and then
they hunir them up head downwards.. After these
achievements they ransacked the larder, made a
good DreaKiast, leering at tneir victims au tne
time, and left the house at daybreak.
Two of the villains have been arrested. One,
named Ferdinand Baluda, is a near relation of
the famllv. lie went by the alias or tJaDot,
The other man in custody is named Vincent
Morera. alias Tortet. The number of the gang
is not stated They did not rob the house, and
therefore it is supposed tnat tney were lmpeuea
te execute a vendetta a la Corse. Nothing more
is yet known oi this astonishing crime.
