Tlic German Press Association of Ibis State
will meet In Uil city to-morrow, at the ball of
the (iermnn Society, South Seventh street. This
association numbers among Its member editors,
publishers, teachers, and ministers.
Revenue Detective tinmen Brooks lias seized
fifty-four barrels of whisky which had not been
properly marked. A claim for the whisky has
been rut In by John O'Byrno, on behalf of Wil
lium Alarms Fat tun, an alleged lunatic.
Work has ceaned upon the Masonic Temple
for the year, the walls now belnjf under cover
to protect them from the winter. Thus far the
woik accomplished lias come within the esti
mates made by the building committee, and a
handsome margin Is left for the resumption of
the work In the spring.

A meeting of clergymen representing the
different denominations was held yesterday
afternoon at the rooms of the Young Men s
Christian Association, for the purpose of adopt
ing plans for the observance of the first week in
January as a season of prayer. Rev. Dr. Beadle
presided, and Mr. Thomas Marshall acted as
Secretary. It was decided to hold the meetings
every afternoon during the week. After some
discussion the following places were agreed
upon in which to hold the meetings: Monday,
First Reformed Presbyterian Church, Broad
street, near Spruce; Tuesday, First Reformed
Church, Seventh and Spring Garden streets;
Wednesday, Spring Garden Methodist Church,
Twentieth and Spring Garden streets; Thursday,
Tenth Baptist Church, Eighth street, near Green;
Friday, Pin9 Street Presbyterian Church; Satur
day, Church of the Epiphany, Fifteenth and
Chcsnut streets. The following subjects were
also adopted : For Monday, Personal Religion;
Tuesday, the Nation; Wednesday, Family Re
ligion; Thursday, Christian Unity; Friday, Mu
nicipal and Church Ofllcers.

The Governor of Jamaica has announced
the disestablishment and disendowmcnt of the
Church in the island.
A bundle of bonds, stolen fifteen years ago,
was left at one of the New York police stations
yesterday, by a boy.
The President attended at his office yester
day for a short time, but received no visitors.
No Cabinet meeting was held.
Playfully snapping a pistol at ono Thomas
Corcoran, at Mount Pleasant, Ohio, on Monday,
Duncan McDonald shot the man dead.
It has been decided In St. Louis that it is not
only possible but practicable and desirable to
hold a world's fair at St. Louis in 1871.
At a meeting of the teachers of the State of
Indiana, held at Indianapolis yesterday, the
question of colored schools was discussed and
the nccebsity for mixed schools fully demon
strated. The proposed reduction of the tariff on pig
iron, to three dollars per ton, was discussed at a
meeting of iron manufacturers in Cincinnati,
yesterday.
Governor McDougall's family arrived at St.
Paul yesterday, on their way to Canada. They
deny that he had anything to do with arming or
inciting the Indians to rise.
A man named Steve Bennett was mnrdered
at Bell's Station, on the Momphis and Louisville
Railroad, on Thursday night, by one Tom Jud
son, who was taken from the police, on Monday
night, and lynched.
Fore Inn Affairs.
The Dalmatian Insurrection is entirely sup
pressed. As yet the question f Papal infallibility
has not been submitted to the (Ecumenical
Council.
The French Ministry resigned yesterday, and
M. Ollivier has been requested by the Emperor
to form a Cabinet.
Pio Nono says that the members of the
Oecumenical Council have no voice in the regu
lation of that body.
Yesterday the new session of the French
Corps Legislatlf commenced, and Schneider was
re-elected President. -
Reviewing the Alabama claims yesterday,
the London Times comes to the conclusion that
England need not fear the resumption of the
negotiations.
The Spaniards yesterday opened their cam
paign against the Cubans In the Camaguey Dis
trict, and expect that, if successful, it will end
the insurrection.
