What Wb Woulu Io ip wk Were M wok. We
would not have men on our force whose dignity will
net allow them to don a uniform.
We would not allow any members of our force to
make associates of tne cut-throats and cab-drivers
that lonr.ge around Ninth and Chesnut streets.
We would not keep men on our force who swear
away comimratlvely Innocent men, for the sake of
effect, and allow their former associates, thietei of
the wurtttrratU, to go unpunished.
We would not make distinction between good,
efficient officers and our relation. It looks bad, you
knowl
We wonld not make promises of appointments,
apparently sincere, merely for the sake of misleading
party supporters.
We would not continue to labor nnder the Im
pression that only a certain nationality deserves
recognition.
-We would not employ a man as messenger who
does not understand the firnt principles of gentle
manly etiquette.
We would not court the favor of certain news
paper men, only to have them "go bock" on us.
We would provide a couple of dozen tooth
brushes to take the "brogue" off the teeth of some of
the force. They might pomibly then make Intelli
gible answer.
We would see that men returning from private
parties, but slightly elated, be not druzacd into cells
for the mere purpose of obtaining the line for drunk
enneHS. We wonld see that, the concert saloon not a mile
from the Suite House be examined into.
We would not put the "poor fellows'' to addi
tional expenses for gloves, etc., when we do not
know now soon tueir term oi service may oe cut
short.
