Which waa to have been heard on last Saturday, came
lip to-day on a writ of habeas corpus, but was post
poned for another week, on account of the absence
of counsel. - The writ waa for the purpose of testing
the right of the managers of Klrkbrlde'a Insane
Agylnm to detain the complainant, who Is said to
have been an inmate of the institution for twenty
years. The patient is related to a well-known bank
note engraving firm, and his particular phase or in
sanity is said to be In imagining himself a poet. We
luive quite a number of such cusca running at large,
to which the attention of the authorities should be
directed. A wholesome correction or Imprisonment
of all such would result In a great saving of time to
editors.

disastrous than at (irst supposed. All the records of
the Laud Oftlcc, inelutilug also the journals of the
House of Representatives, were destroyed.
B. M. Nordyke, injured at Coon Point, Iowa, by the
disaster on the Chicago, Rock Island and Puctllc.
Ruilroud on Tuesday, died on Thursday evening.
This makes three deaths from the disaster.
No serious trouble with the Mormons I appre
hended, and no troops as yet have been ordered in
the direction of Utah.
