With whom all others "pale their ineffectual fires,"
takes a benefit at Fox's American Theatre on Friday
evening, and the occasion should be a genuine ova

popular. Ills friends are legion, and should, as they
will, no doubt, assemble in throngs on the night of
his benefit Let him have "a bumper at parting,"
for we learn that he leaves Fox's Theatre shortly,

The 8eason of Exhaustion. No matter how vigorous
by nature the system and the constitution may be, they
must necessarily suffer more or less from the deploting
fleets of the temperature of midsummer, unless strengta
ened and sustained by wholesome tonio treatment. The
extra Dretsure upon the vital forces must be met ana coun
terbalanced by an extra resistant power: the unusual and
ranld consumption of the animal fluids by profuse perepl
ration-must be compensated by the perfect digestion and
assimilation of the food taken into the stomach, from
which both the fluids snd the solids ol the Doay are de
rived. Otherwise the physical strength declines, and the
mind, sympathising with the machinery through which it
acts, becomes depressed and enervated. A stimulant
is therefore absolutely required at thia season : aot a violent
one, calculated to produce febrile excitement, but some
thing which will recruit and reinforoe the whole organiza
tion in proportion to the extraordinary drain to which the
torrid beat subjects it.
This desideratum is suppliod in a palatable and most
efficient form in Hobtetter's Stomach Bitters, whioh
the people of this country, after more than twenty-five
years' experience, have accepted and endorsed as the best
tonic, alterative and anti-bilious preparation whioh medi
cal chemistry has yet succeeded in obtaining from the
strength-sustaining, hauling, and purifying products nf
the vegetable kingdom. Kvery Ingredient of thit famout
compound hat its own specific virtue, and the result of
their combination la the most genial iovigorant, aperient,
and regulating medicine ever administered, either aa a
preventive or cure of the disorders most common in our
variable climate. Among these may be enumerated dys
pepsia, biliousness, oonstipation, fever and ague, nervous
debility, and all the ailments proceeding from imperfect
digestion. A course of Hohtettk.m'b Bittkus is the best
possible safeguard against the dangers winch menauo per
sons of both sexes, and all ages, during the heated term.

OBITUARY.
It Is with emotions of sincere regret that we letrn of the
death of the widow of Dr. I. Q. (J. Wishart, the well.
kaown discoverer of the Pine Tree Tsr Cordial. Mr.
Wishart was a lady held in the highest esteom among a
very large circle of friends. She wat possessed of all those
graces which to quiokly attrsot, and which go so far to
atrengthon the bonds of friendship. Dr. Wishart, ss
it Is well known, gained a reputation world-wide
bv the discovery of the Pine Tree Cordial, with
which his name is inseparably linked, and amassed a gr at
fortune. Of the estate which he loft, his wife took and
remained its administratrix until her death. She was well
known fcr her benevolenoe, snd though there wss no pub-
lio mention of her charitable deeds, still their influem
was felt in many a destitute home in our city. So suddenly
removed from a position which she filled with suoh grace,
her deatU will be felt with keen sorrow by many of our
citizens.
