Two young women were arreted yesterday
on the charge, of bcin concerned In the bur
rlary at the residence of Mr. George O. F.v.uis,
tit, 230 South Eighth street. They had been
seen in company with ttie burglars, and when
arrested by Policeman Mcllhcnny had ome of
the stolen goods In their possession. Alderman
Kerr committed them for a further hearing.
An adjourned meeting of the Board of Al
dermen 01 the City of i'hlliule.lphla waa held
yesterday afternoon, in Common Council cham
ber, Alderman Cloud in the chair. After the
' reading and adoption of the minutes of the pre
vious session, on motion of Alderman Cloud an
adjournment took place until July 28, 18M.
James Welch, who was struck with a coal
oil lamp by Annie Peoples, on tha 11th of June,
and was severely burned, died at the Pennsyl
vania Hospital yesterday afternoon. Deceased
resided at No. KilfcJ American street. The Coro
ner will hold an inquest on the body on Kridny.
At the time of the occurrence, Annie Peoples
was arrested, and she is now in prison.
Mrs. M. Kilpatrlck, No. Wi . Hroad street,
cmplo3'ed a colored girl as a domestic last week,
who left the house yesterday morning at an early
hour, taking with her a new suit of men's cloth
ing, silver butter-knife, and several spoons. The
girl gave tho name of Catharine Krister.
John Karlaud, fifteen years of ua;e, residing
nt No. 718 Hubhcll street, was run over by a dirt
cart yesterday, at Fourth street and Williug's
alley, and was badly injured internally. He was
taken to the Pennsylvania Hospital.
Councils, Heads of Departments, the Judges
of the Courts, and the Park Commission yester
day Inspected Vista drive in the new Park, west
of the SchuvlUill. This drive, which is at pre
sent about four miles in length, is now open for
tho accommodation of the public.

From July 1 prox., export duties will be

Foreign Affairs.
London, June 23. The Irish Church bill wil
soon come before the House of Lords again, on
motion to co into committee. No line of action
in dealing with the provisions of the bill has yet
been marked out. but the ireneral feeliur of the
peers lavors amendments, on the principle of
concurrent endowment.

Section 1. The Select and Common Councils of the
Civ of Philadelphia do ordtiln, That the aiuii of
thirty thousand seven hundred dollars he and the
fame 1H hereby appropriated to the Controllers of
the Public Schools for the purpose (together with
the sunt of nine thousand three hundred and Ufty
dollars and fourteen cents, bclup; the balance re
maining of the amount heretofore appropriated
for the school buildings In the First ward) of
erecting a new school building on the south side
or Dlckcrson street, between sixtn and seventh
streets, In the First ward ; the Baid sum of thirty
thousand seven hundred dollars hereby appro
priated to lie taken out of a loan to be hereafter
created: Provided that the plans and specifications
therefor HhalLhe first approved by tho Committee
on Schools or Councils, and the contract or con
tracts therefor, and the sureties of the contractor
or contractors, shall be approved by Councils; and
provided, further, that the sum appropriated for the
erection of said building shall fully complete
