many a ruffling, a thing very likely to happen if you chance

ScrKNCE Advances. As soon as an article purporting
to be of utility has been tested, and its merits endorsed by
publio opinion, unprincipled parties endeavor to replenish
their depleted purses by counterfeiting, and substituting
& spurious for the genuine article. Some time since, mer
cury, in the disguise of pills, powders, etc, was given for
all diseases of the stomach and liver, while quinine was
freely administered for the chills. At length Hostet
Tib's Stomach Bitters made its advent, and an entire
new system of healing was inaugurated. The beneficial
affects of this valuable preparation were at onoe acknow
ledged, and mineral poisons suffered to sink into that ob
scurity to which an enlightened age baa eonsfgned them.
There have been many spurious Bitters palmed upon the
community, which, after trial, have been found perfectly
worthless, while HosTrrncn's h proved a blessing to
thousands, who owe to it their restoration to health ; and
for many years we have watched the steady progress of
Hobtettkr's Stomach Bitters in pnblic estimation, and

from the stomach of a morbid nature, and we are free to
say that it can be relied upon as a certain relief and
