The Pacific Railroad.
Plunging through the mountains;
Flying o'er the pluins ;
Screaming, touring, shrieking.
Come the loaded trains;
Loud the bells are ringing;
All aboard, look out!
California's bringing
Uer treasures bore about.
John Hull must tuke a back seat.
And Nap may rip und swear.
But Jonathan is wide awake,
And for thorn doesn't care.
The road to China's open.
Hurrah for Uncle Sam,
Over which to send our notions
To China and Japan.
While in return, for ploughshares
And school books, if you ploase,
We'll receive their silks and satitie,
To say nothing 'bout the teas.
John Bull's Atlantic cable
Was a big thing in its way ;
But it's laid now on the table ;
We have a bigger thing to-day.
Railroad to California;
Just think of it, my boys;
Clear the track, old fogy chaps,
Don't you hear the noise?
This glorious Yankee uation
Has astonished all the folks,
And the great Pacific station
Is the store of CUarlos Stokes,
Where Clothing made in styles so nice
Is sold at the very lowest price.
