The work de scribes a portion of Asia but little visited and but little known. As a narrative of travel and adventure in a strange country It is interesting, but Christian readers will be particularly attracted by theaeoountof Mr. 8hea'slabors in behalf of the conversion of the natives and the spread of the Christian rcligiou. The work is profusely illus trated with maps and engravings. A pamphlet prepared by some of the friends Of Indian missions iu this city lias been sent to us, and we gladly commend it to the uotiee of Christians of all denominations, and to all who are Interested in the welfare of the Indians on our far Western plains. The pamphlet gives the journal of Rev. S. D. Hindman, missionary to the Sautcc Sioux Indians, aud the address of Bishop Whipple on the death of Taopl, the Christian Indian chief.
