28'th November last tbo firm of Ouitermun
(Simon and H'gimnund Gultcrmau), doin? bust
n's at No. 63 Leonard street, were eniacd in
defrauding tbo revenue by undervaluing the
goods, wares, and merchandise imported bv
them; that a warrant was ob'alned from the
Judge of tho United States District Court for
the seixare of the books, accounts, and corres
pordenco of Ouiteruiau Brothers; that on ex
amination ol the same and comparing them
wilb the recrds In the Custom House, the fact
that Bend ino A Co. and Fcipelstock & Co. had
for some lime past been eneaged in importing
allk and other valuable dress goods, the same
being invoiced and entered at the Cuatora
House as clocks and glnss shades, etc., with
Intent to defraud the United States Government.
The parties were taken before Commissioner
Belts, to whom they furnished ball in the sum
of $ i0, 000 tac, and the examination was ap
pointed for to-niorrow.

days my dreadful complaint was raging as bad
