What is Dyspepsia?

diately, or a short time after eating; is often
very severe and obstinate.

eaten, and, of course, gives no strength to ttie

C. Fains In All rurls of the System
arise from tbe action of impure blool npon
tbe nerves. They are felt chiefly in the head,
sides, and breast, and in the extremities. In
many cases there is an uneasiness in the
throat, with a sense of choking or suffocation:
the month is olten clammy, with a bad taste
and furred tongue.

as having these diseases bave, in fact, nothing
but dyspepsia, the lang and heart disease
being only symptoms.

symptom, resulting often in mental derange
ment. 10. Sjmptonis of External Relation. The
patient id aiiecttd painfully by coll and heat,
I which is owing to unnatural dryness of skin,
and the Bkln Is olten aUVcted by eruptions and
tetters. The gloomy dyspeptic avoids sooiety
aa much as possible.
11. Vomiting. A frequent and distressing
symptom. It relieves the pain, but emaoiateg
and wears out the put.ient.
12 Dizziness, D'titness of Vision, Head
ache, aud Staggering in Walking. These
aie very alarming symptoms, whioh are
tpeedily removed by our medicine; bat if
neglected, are quiokly followed by numbness
and sadden death.
13. It is Impossible for us to give all the
symptoms of Djrpepsiain so small a space,
but tbe above are considered sufficient if we
add tbat the patient lo-ies his memory and
regard to surrounding objects, and frequently
becomes nioiose and sour in disposition. We
ubould cay, however, that pains in the joints
aDd stiffness of the limbs, wbiuh go by the
name of iheumatism aud neuralgia, are pro
duced by Dyspepsia. Also, a hardness of the
muscles of the abdomen, which become con
tracted and hard; aud in some cases the belly
siiiks, instead of being gently prominent.
N. 1). Perhaps we have not said enough of
that Btronge&t symptom of Dyspepsia, melan
choly. We have examined hundreds of oases of
Dj ppeptica who were so much affected in their
miLds that they constantly foreboded loss of
their reason, which unfitted them for business
of acy kind, ami many of them have been
patients of the lutaue Asylum, who are iioaT
peimsnently cured by our medioines.
