The noieeraeat that to'f. JVeman's Opera
Bouffe Company Is to appear oei t week at the
Academy of Mane will be welcomed with
gratification by the nom-roat admirers of that

Whom we shall receive, and who perform j the

held an honorable position in Paris. For a con
alderable period sbe was the leading mezzo
soprano at the Opera Comtqae, and after bar
withdrawal from that theatie was chosen by
Offenbach, at the Bjufles Panslennes, to crest -the
principal roles In a number ot his own com

Lecooq's opera bouffe, Feur-de-The, which sh
sucoes'fully carried through an entire season a
the Theatre de 1'Athenee. Of the rapidity with
Which she established herself In popular faro
kt Nlblo's, New Yotk, it Is bardly necessary fo
ns to speak; nor is it necessary to describe at
length the characteristics of ber style of singing
and acting, or of her many and varied attrac

Judged of in her own pcreon.
M. Aujsc, the representative of "Blue Beard,''
b In some respects the strongest addition that
Mr. Bateman has made to his company. lie is
the ideal of the tenor needed for the proper
illustration of comic opera or opera bouffe. His
voice Is fresh, clear, and elastic, and rings like
a trumpet, and, what is almost of equal Im
portance, he is an actor of the highest order.
There are few comedians now upon the etnge
Who can rival him in prace, vivacity, and gal
lant bearing. "Blue Beard" affords him abun
dant opportunity for exhibiting bis best qualities
in every oapaclty, and if it is not bis mot im
port ra'e, it will be found to be tbe one in which
he always makes the most forcible impression.
The majority of the other artists who appear
next week are also new. They are clever and
conscientious, and have done much to add to
the successes already secured by Mad'lle Irma
and M. Aujac. Tbe best feature of Mr. Bate
man's announcement is the assurance it gives
ns that every part in the operas he produces
will be sustained with such fidelity as to give
no opportunity for reprotch in any
particular. Care has been taken to
provide an excellent chorus and a fine
orchestra, and the well-known skill of the
Mualcal Director of tbe Batemin troupe, Mr. A.
Birgfeld, is sufficient assurance that nothing
will be wanting in the ccnirol of these depart
ments. Barbe Bieue will be performed every evening,
except Saturday, next week, and at a matiuon
on Saturday afternoon. The sale of tickets
commenced this morning at the Academy and
Boner's music store, N j. 1102 Chesnut street,
and from the lively rate at wbish the tickets
were disposed of, we have no doubt of a most
brilliant success, financially speaking, fjr tbe
season.
