Donkey Race at Doncaster. At Doncaster
Races, among the quadrupeds that ran for the
Badminton Ilaudiuap one was named Ritualist.
The owner of this beast was a Mr. Prior. Sup
posing that the Doncaster Races are horse
races, tome people may wonder that a Prior
Bhonld have given the name of Ritualist to a
noble animal. A Tegular Prior would, of
conrse, never have done any such thing, and
we are driven to the supposition that the Bad

comes in hindmost.
A High Affair of Honob. The French code
of honor obliges any gentleman insulted by
another to challenge him, and allows that
other the choice of weapons. It should also
allow him the choice of plaoe. Then a funam
bulist, thongh less skilled than M. B'.oodin,
would be enabled to assassinate anybody he
pleased by extorting a challenge from him,
and then obliging him to fight upon the tight
rope. A Cosmopolitan Idea. The Extradition
Committee have just published their Report.
They reoommenil that, on stipulated condi
tions, the extradition of criminals should be
facilitated. It is well that we and foreigners
ehould agree to give up each other's rogues,
lut how much better it would be if we couli
also get our foreign friend .to give up their

A DBBAM OF DRINKS.
liy a Tbfol Ahttatntr,
In an after-dinner slumber,
Taking more than forty winks,
I bad visions withont number
Of Innumerable drinks.
In this very hot September,
Pleasant was it in my dreams,
Cooling liquors to remember,
Bubbling in eternal streams.
With the triangle surmounted,
First in order saw I pass,
Doxens of the beer aooonnted
Finest in the vats of Bass.

At the thought of Dablin Bay,
Little wonder, stout of Dublin
Froths in such a tempting way.
Then a olaret-oup was creaming,
With an iceberg shining through;
And above its wavelets gleaming
Rose the borage flowers of blue.
With emotions sweet and tender,
Next I saw my ". and B.;"
With the soda's swift surrender,
Of its brandied charms to me.
And I gazed with fond affeotion
On a tumbler then, wherein
Ice and lemon met inspection
Gave a gentle thought of gin.
"Cocktails," "cobblers," "slings," and
"smashes,"
All Americans have made,
Came in dreams that drinker rath is
Who drinks with them, I'm afraid.
With a change of climate coming
Saw I steaming glasses Btand,
On the fire a kettle humming,
And the whisky near my hand.
It will seem extremely odd, I
Said, if I refuse to mix,
So 1 filled a glass of toddy,
With a few convivial bricks.
Do not blame me for that aotion,
It were churlish to refuse;
Though there's little satisfaction
In a visionary booze.
