We present below the first instalment o( the
fruits of our efforts to expose to the puolic gaze
the records of the Supreme Court In the mat
ter of naturalization. Let the people read and
ponder them before determining to cast their
votes for Beymour and Blair.
How I lie BiiNiiieks la Done.
When a larsre staff of reporters of The Even
iko Telegraph presented themselves to Colone
J. Ross Snowden, the Prothonotary of the Su
preme Court, yesterday afternoon, that gentle
nan, in compliance with the instructions of the
court.placed every facility for the successful pro
lecntion of the work at their disposal. One o
the clerks of the office was detailed to take
charge of the documents, aud under his eye the
work of inspection commenced and was prose
cuted from three to six o'clock, the only hours
when it would not interfere with the regular
and legitimate duties ot the office. In the three
hours thus far at our command we have been
able to obtain only 754 namos, which are given
Lelow. To obtain these the same number of
naturalization papers bad to be carefully
examined. In the coarse of that examination
several curious facts were developed, anions;
which were the following:
In the great majority of cases, tht applicantsor
natura'izadon testified under oath to the facltha
they hod arrived in this country before aUaininj
their majority, atd on papers thus made out
their claim to citizenship was allowed.
In ibevcral case?, as will be seen by inspecting
the lists given below, the voucher had not been
signed. Sometimes it wai entirely blank, and
at others the name of the voucher had tSeu
..filled in. but he had vZ &alei Us) gigt"..
In one case a name had been written in ink,
wiped out by a finger, and auothcr scrawling
ame written over it in pencil, and barely
legible.
Thus far tee have not encountered a single men
tion of the residence or pre'ended residence of the
applicant. Tbts was omitted in every case, we
believe, until the application for a mandamus

U.ulual VoucUern.
As will be Bern by teierence to the list dated
September 2J, Henry Holl acted as the voucher
of Ilenry Ernbt, and Henry Ernst then turned
about and did a like service for Henry Hall.
One of these men, by his own confession, hasbeen
gui'ly of perjury; for one of them swore
that he was a citizen of the United
state, and in that capacity vouched
for the other, and yet was not clothed
with the rights oi citizenship until his friend,
the newly made citizen, had vouched for him,
aod thus enabled lilm to p?iettfe his own
papers. Doubtless there have been many more
such cases, to which we shall call public atten-
ion, as fast as they came under our attention.
