The "Rhode Island Radical reace Socleti" fceld a meeting In thie place, a Temperance Sail, yesterday, commencing at 10J o'clock A. Jf., nd continuing through the afternoon and veniug. L. K.. Joslin, of rrovidenee, opened Ue sieetlng by presenting following propo Mow, -which he sustained In a .peecu of Barked ability and clearness: First. That the right of man to life li Inallon- bfll'cond. That this right. In our own 8tate, is Inhtlv accorded to robbers and murderer; but indcr the existing war system we have consented to have many hundred of innoeenl men killed, , if whem many were forocd to the slaughter wlthont their content. Third. That we deem the age barbarous, and the people benighted and cruel, that tortured and killed men tor religion. But to torture and kill man for politics is, in its nature, as wicked sod baxoarous as it Is to do the same thing for "Fourth. If so-called Christians are to per petuate war, It would bettor accord with their profession! of love and mercy to kill men expe ditiously, nd not to torture and malm thou sands for lile, as Is the present practice. Filth. That it is the undoubted tight of all men to refuse to be soldiers, and to learn the art ol killing and wounding men. Bixth. Vhat the working man is especially interested in this question of peace, as in war he has to sacrifice his home, do the righting, suffer the wounds, and pay the cost, while the men who concoct the mischief gala fortune and honor Irom his misery. llenry C. Knight, long distinguished as an able and worthy advocate of all radical reforms, ottered the following resolutions, which be .us tained in a characteristic speech: 1. That as friends of radical peace, we heartily and earnestly adopt the following propositions, as expressive of our Tiews, and we will do what in us lies to disseminate them among our fellow-beings, and to induce them to practise them. 2 That In no conceivable case are we au thorized to kill or iu any way injure others, because they have injured or attempted to in jure us. 3. That it Is our right, our privilege, and our duty to adopt and carry out, iu our "daily lives, the principle of radical peace, which teaches us to sutler rather than inilict suffering to die rather than kill. 4. That human nature approves aud accepts this principle of ra lical peace as a self-evident troth. 6. That to adopt and act upon this principle would most eflectually insure others against all wrong and injury from us, by taking from us the will and the means to harm them. 8. That the principle that would insure others . against all harm from us would most effectually kieore us against a'.l barm from them. 7. That the war principle, which says kill rather than die, ana the military system bused upon it, instead ot protecting life, liberty, and property, are the source of all danger to these, and all human rights. " 8. That what is theft, robbery, or murder in one man, acting alone and as an Individual, is the same in millions acting together, as a bUte or nation. . ... 9. That if he is an aspasain who hires one man o kill others at his biddmg and for his benefit, then are millions, acting as a government, assassin who hire thousands to kill men, women, and children & their bidding aiii fr weir oenent, . .. 10. That whatever epithet can be justly ap plied to a man who hires himself to one Indi vidual to slaughter human beings at his bid sling and tor his benefit, should be applied to those who engage in the service of millions, acting as a State or nation,: to do the same bloody deeds tor their benefit, and at their dis cretion. 11. ihataman engaged in the emnlov of any Government to shell, sack, and burn' towns aua cities, to lay waste and desolate a country, and rive innocent men, women, and children from their homes, to perish with hunger and cold, is, before God, in the eamo' position, and deserves he pame condemnation, as he does who is en gaged In the service of one individual to do those cruel and murderous deeds. An invitation having been extended to all persons present to participate in the discussion, idr. J. C. Rwjh fc'.lcrtl Ua a claim that man, possessing an animal nature, which includes ombativeness anddestrnctiveness, Is naturally a fighting animal, and that his whole nature should be developed and cultivated That war is necessary to prevent the earth from becom ing too populous, and consequently too cor rupt, and that war helps to civilize man and beauttty the earth. lie was replied to by H. C. Wright and L. K. Jcsltn, and the discussion was continued in a vry spirited manner by these two and by Mr. Rich. The afternoon meeting was opened by L. K. Joslin, in a speech on the character of war and its influences. He would not except the late war. He said, "There are hundreds and thou sands of soldiers of our Northern army who are practising to-day the eruelty which they learned in war. Our prisons, all over the North, are filled with criminals who have been soldiers." Isaac Ballon, of Cumberland, spoke in defense f the principles of peace. The discussion was continued until the close f the session by H. C. Wright, JL. K. Joslin, J. C. Rich, Mrs, fccott, of Blackstone, Mrs. Westcott, of Woonsocket, and Zebulon P. White, of Pawtucket. In the evening the question was still further discussed Mr. Griffin, of New Bedford, and Mr. L.a Porst of Woonsocket, defending war, and Mr. Smith, of Woonsocket, assisting by question all of whom were replied to by H. C. Wright, 1. K. Joslin, and Z. P. White. The meeting adjourned to meet in Providence, the time to be announced hereafter. ADMINISTRATOR'S SALE.
