This humorous body made their appearance again in the ring last Thursday, and amnsed themselves as to what they should do with the myths from Columbus, Ohio, who had sent a letter saying that they had all got dead-head tickets on the railroads, and that they were ecming on to see the water-works. Myth Gil hngham moved that they get up a committee to take these Columbusters in hand. Another myth suggested that they secure boarding at Jerry King's, as they all could have a view of the works and canal locks in front of them and the WeBt Philadelphia stand-pipe behind them. Another myth thought it a good idea, and Jerry be instructed to make his bill large enough to ' nlud8 a few Philadelphia mytha Occasionally. VrEW f ROM THB V7ATBJMV0RKB LOOKIHfl TOWARDS JHRRT KINU'B. Another myth moved that notice be sent to Jerry that, in addition to getting an increased stock of good things inside his house, that he get a new set of quoits, as those he saw there last Monday were so nicked on the edges that they were not fit to put into any gentleman's hand. Myth Jones moved to amend by instructing the Chief Engineer of the Water Works not to allow any pigs or babies to come through the wheels, but that the entranoe to the Fore- bay be cleared every morning at 6ix o clock of ench things. Myth Coleman would like the Schuylkill JJavy to turn out in strength, and for onr " young men, the members, to all have their knit shirts . on and their arms bare, so as to astonish the Columbusters at the great amount of muscle found in our fresh water. (Sup pressed laughter by the myths.) A PT?IKN OF FRESH WATER MTJ8CLE. Another myth, also a Son of Temperance, ttrange to say, advocated a visit to Bergner's 1t vaults, to show them where all tho spoiled water is kept. Myth Fox thought not, as they might bring the charge of malt treatment against us, (Laughter.) Another myth, suggested that if they did we eould transfer the charge to the city, and order Ibfl city ireasurer to pay. (Cries of "Good I Coodl") The speaker hoped the myths wouia preserve ine dignity of the bod v. Another myth said he was agreed, and that they use hermetrically-sealed canB to do the preserving in. Cries of "Silence 1" "Nona of thatl" etc. One of the little myths said he thought if the Columbusters got troublesome in their investigations, and asked too many hard qeB- lions about the working of the Water-wheels, the Turbine, Overshots, Undorshots, and llalf- ihots, that provision be made for introducing them to Mr. Birkinbiue, who seems to have Water on the brain. Agreed to. A proposal was received and read from Chris, Lips, whose hotel is near the stand-pipe in WeBt Philadelphia, saying that he would ac commodate eight City Councilman from Colum liis at figures that would be satisfactory and lower than any other house in the city. One JujvH oljeU4, and jamed to Insert tbg wcrd "Continental" ia pla, the ria "Chris. I-ipo,M and in that form be aooepted. In this form the proposal was agreed to unanimously. After the myths had further thought over and discussed over what they would do with the remaining myths, they concluded to return to Myth Gillmgbaui'u idea, and hand them over to the tender mercies of a committee, and let them show the strangers the elephant, and no questions asked. Agreed to. That old hoes the Mayor now transmitted to the myths the report of Mr. Graeff upon the purity of the Schuylkill water, which the Chairman said, on handing it to the clerk, ap peared to him like a most remarkable com position. Myth Hodgdon wanted to know if the word "composition," iu the remarks just made by the Chairman, referred to the Superintendent's report or to the Schuylkill water. The Chairman replied "Uoth." Beveral myths said they thought eo too, and one moved to insert Eomewhere tho words "eomewhat muddy." Agreed to. Myth Hodgdon now reported an ordinance in reference to laying pipe. Several myth3 hoped the members wouldn't introduce poli tics into their discissions, as several members were here without gloves. Myth Coleman said, aa regards pipe-laying, the returns of the late elections show that that thing has now got about as near perfec tion as we can hope, and he would move a committee be appointed by this body to visit New York, and to confer with Mike McCloskey in reference to the mode of operation. Carried. Myth Cattell reported as regards leasing some coal lands in Schuylkill county, to be mined below low-water level. The myth ex plained that previous companies who had worked these lands had never been able to keep their heads above water; that was the reason he made the present suggestion. One myth wanted to know if these miners would be allowed to vote, as it was contrary to the Constitution for minors to vote. Myth Cattell said these were miners after they were twenty-one. One myth said that a person must be a resi dent of the State to vote, and he did not think any person could be regarded as a resident.'of Pennsylvania who lived below low-water level. Adopted. Myth Smith, of the Committee on Railroads, submitted a report requiring the Mayor to notify the policemen to remove all misplaced sleepers on the railroad tracks running out of the city, and lock them up in the Station House. VJ1 A MISPLACED SLEEPER. One myth moved to amend by inserting "wake 'em up first, and make 'em tell where they got their liquor." Adopted with the amendment. The resolution submitted at the last meet ing, directing the Directors of Girard College to suspend all action in reference to their Pre sident, was taken up and let hang there awhile, and then taken down and adopted. None of the pupils of the College, however, were adopted by the members during the dis cussion. ALL ACTIGlf IN TUB CASE KCHPENDED. TLe following ordinanceB from the Chamber of the Common Myths were concurred in: One for permission to erect a brick -pile at Pock and Walnut Btreets, to advertise the "Wehaveit" on. One regulating market women and their stands on ftouth street. One appropriating $'!() to a doctor for inves tigations in a child's stomach. One for paving BuBquohanna avenue through Wetherill's woods. One to pay for the hmt edition of "Sheridan's Ride," illustrated with cuts at the President. One to suppend the Globe and Independence Fire Companies for fighting when there was no fire. One making inquiries of the Building Inppectors aa to the reaaon of no more build ings tumbling down they having been in office nearly two years. Having concurred in everything that was presented to them, except those things they were particularly interested in, the myths ad journed.
